I have many of the ones I had since I was a child (some since birth). I don't sleep with them, though.

The one I find the most valuable is a pink elephant I won in a ring toss when I was 13. He doesn't have a name, but he's valuable because I won him, and at the now-defunct Six Flags Astroworld.

Hey; I rarely come here, but did becasue I was a little bored.

Anyway, I'm in my upper 30s and have...well, bunches.

I like real animals, too, but they can die and stuffed ones can't. Plus, when I talk to mine, they know what I'm thinking and understand me already, which helps. Sometimes I feel so complex compared to the way the world is; just being able to figure out what's causing it has been the best thing for me. I don't have a *lot* of AS, just a little; on the Wired test I scored just on the Aspie side of the midway point betweent he average NT and the 80% of Aspies.

Anyway, I'll sleep with them from time to time, but these imaginary friends are always there when I need; the times I've pushed them aside and tried to be "grown up" are the times I struggled a lot with things. Thankfully, my parents always kept them, and moved them over to my new house. the main reason more aren't out, at least upstairs, is becasue I'm afraid my real dog will get after one.

They have good advice when I talk to them. Even before I got back into church and found a very loving, friendly congregation I had one a couple times say, "You should talk to God about this," telling me He would understand because He made me. Okay, maybe that's something I knew from when I was a kid, but other advice has been good, too, like with my law practice. (Let's face it, it's sometimes tough, but I am determined to do something besides sit around! However, trying 5 cases, doing several wills, and a few other things, months after my grandfather, then grandmother, died, all without even being able to afford a secretary, would give an NT burnout! That was when I tried to act too much like an NT, and I think caused my brain to overheat a bit or something; I had a couple mini-strokes (TIA's))

So, is it normal? Oh, sure. Everyone should do it. I honestly think stuffed animals are a therapy just waiting for someone to "save the world" with it. But, you know what? The people who need stuffed animals most won't turn to them. They'll turn to drinking, drugs, and other stuff to escape (at least, that's what we see people do in law, though I would never do those), because they're so set on doing it all themselves. Of course, my faith in Jesus and what He's done for me is really the best, He's the one who keeps me going - my stuffed animals are just a gift from Him - but people are even less likely to turn to Him for the same reasons.

I don't think there's a coincidence that He says we need the faith of a child. It's just that sometimes, I need something concrete; I think that's one of the things that separates us from the NT world. It's just that I can probably handle such astrct things a little better than others. But, I guess it makes sense, AS is a spectrum condition..

I have a chubby teddy bear named Pyle. He has a hole in the back of his head, dogtags and tighty-whities with his name on them. He's based on a character from the movie Full Metal Jacket. I love him to pieces!! !
I also have Michael and Charlotte who are two stuffed kittie cats from my infancy.
In addition there are five real cats in my house.

As a kid, my stuffed animals were the ones I turned to when I needed to verbally work out my social issues. It's not like I expected them to answer back, but they acted as a "safe" audience for me to verbally dump my thoughts. I'm one of those types of Aspies that have to make the abstract into concrete before knowing how to deal with it. My thoughts verbalize themselves in my head (no not voices in my head-- it's more like my own self narrating everything to me), so in order to cut down on the "noise" for lack of a better term, I have to talk it out. As a kid, I used to verbally dump for the day on my stuffed friends (whose secondary function was to cuddle me). This only very recently ended when my husband and I moved in together a few years ago (I was 24).

Now, I just bug the **** out of my husband! He's the opposite- completely abstract. Although he has no need for the same, he does understand my need to verbally dump, even though sometimes he has no clue what I'm trying to say, or how I went from point A to point C without crossing through point B, but hitting K, Q and R along the way! He also now serves as my lifesize, cuddly stuffed animal.

I guess my point is that if I weren't married to such a wonderful Aspie, I'd prolly still be covered in stuffed animals. Come to think of it, my kids are the same way... :D

Um I don't sleep with any of my stuffed animals, but a large chunk of my life is dominated by them...because I make them....and collect them....specificly ones that are homemade...I have several catagories that they fall into.
My sweet, awesome (very AS-ish) friend has requested two sock monkey likenesses of himself, for which he meticulously hand-sews accessories :)
I really like they ways in which people appreciate their sock animals.
I have made hundreds of sock creatures.

When I was a kid I was pretty attached to a stuffed bear I named Rugsby...

I'm a 26 year old guy, and I still sleep with a little grey teddy bear. Had the DMAT team I'm on gone out for Dolly, they may have been surprised to see their Commo Specialist looking a bit like Radar if they came to wake me. (A DMAT is like a modern MASH that works in disaster areas, instead of warzones.)

I have stuffed animals all over my room. Under two large windows across a wall in my room I have around 25 stuffed animals. On my bed I have a large penguin and a stuffed Hostess Cupcake "Captain Cupcake" Which I got as a christmas present when I was 20. A lot of people have been in and out of my room when my parents have people over and they actually think its cute. I have Angelina Ballerina on top of my calculus text book at the moment.

I don't sleep with them, except for the 2 on my bed but they just sit there but I can't get rid of them.

I still sleep with stuffed animals, I have 2 sitting next to my pillow; a cute fluffy rabbit and a Garfield that's almost as old as me, he's my favorite, I can twist his head around from grumpy to happy!

I do also, I am a 19 year old guy. I have a wolf stuffed animal, wolfie, and he comforts me when I am down and helps relieve my anxiety when I am away from home, and just makes me feel better.

As part of my dolphin collection, I have 67 soft toys.

I don't take them to bed, they are all in a room at my home.

But I also like the really soft ones.

As they have a calming effect when you hold/touch them, especially if you're feeling stressed.

I also find them cute and nice to look at.

My mother is 47 years old and quite often she even holds a stuffed animal on her arm while watching tv. And she sleeps with stuffed animals. I sleep with one, but that's because I always sleep the same way and from ancient times when I was a child I got the habit of sleeping with a stuffed animal and now I can hardly sleep without it.

26 here, and I still have a couple of stuffed dolls. One is a white cat, and I still sleep with that one sometimes when I'm stressed out.

The other is a doll I commissioned--it's a Cardassian from Deep Space Nine, with a very sweet, smiling face. That one's ADORABLE and very calming to look at, but much more delicate than the cat, so not for sleeping.
