Post Songs about Autistic people
I thought about Hollow Man (great song
But I don't understand why Bad Day should be considered a song about autism
A Public service announcement followed me home the other day
I paid it nevermind. Go away.
Shits so thick you could stir it with a stick- free Teflon whitewashed presidency
We're sick of being jerked around
Wear that on your sleeve
Broadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, lord,
Count your blessings.
We're sick of being jerked around
We all fall down.
Have you ever seen the televised St. vitus subcommittee prize
Investigation dance? Those-ants-in- pants glances.
Well, look behind the eyes
It's a hallowed, hollow anesthesized
"save my own ass, screw these guys"
smoke and mirror lock down
Broadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, lord,
Count your blessings.
the papers wouldn't lie!
I sigh. Not one more
Its been a bad day.
Please dont take a picture
Its been a bad day.
Please
We're dug in the deep the price is steep.
The auctioneer is such a creep.
The lights went out, the oil ran dry
We blamed it on the other guy
Sure, all men are created equal.
Heres the church, heres the steeple
Please stay tuned--we cut to sequel
ashes, ashes, we all fall down.
Broadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, lord, Count your blessings.
Ebrace the lowest fear/Ignore the lower fears
Ugh, this means war.
Its been a bad day.
Br.
Broadcast me a joyful noise unto the times, lord,
Count your blessings.
We're sick of being jerked around
We all fall down.
Its been a bad day...
Pleaase...
I do not believe this song is about autistic people exactly, but it mentions autism and other people often say it is, possibly just because of the foot-notes that appear in the booklet of lyrics that accompanied the record. I've added them here as they are there, but the 'Note' bit is printed sideways up the inside edge of the page.
There is no reason to actually look at this video, the picture doesn't change.

Tea & Thorazine. (1)
Note: This song contains three characters and one crackpot idea.
I can tell by the way you take your infusion
you've spent some time in a mental institution
oh what a dream life would be if only...
they let you keep your etchasketch (2)
you laugh like a banshee gesticulate your delirium
they treat you like a corpse keep you full of candy
lithium
what a dream life would seem if if you could see
the world from inside an etchasketch
I can tell by the way you reach your conclusions
you're the director of a mental institution
oh what a dream life would be if only...
it hadn't been for Doctor B. (3)
animate yourself an alternate reality
consummate a self-pleasing artificiality
you can have yourself to tea
I can tell by the way you take your infusion
you've spent some time in a mental institution
oh what a dream life would be if only...
they let you keep your etchasketch
(1) I observed a man hunched over a cup of Mountain Dew and a chimichanga at a public cafeteria in Arkansas. "I bet he's been in a mental institution," I thought. As it happened, I was correct.
(2) My brother, who is autistic, had his art supplies taken away from him by heath care workers, ostensibly as a means of discipline.
(3) Dr. B. (Bruno Bettleheim) godfather of Autism and its diagnosis, concluded that Autism is instilled by the mother. He was, in my opinion, a bad man.
Idea: Being autistic is like being trapped inside an etchasketch yet having control of the dials.
Solitaire is a very lovely classic ballad which IMHO pretty much sums up autism. Both in the actual obsession for the game of "solitaire" and as a metorphor the an autistic life. In fact the majority of aspies and auties I have met personally who are really passionate about solitaire or as some of them call it the game of "patience"
I do not play solitaire myself but my life is a kind of metaphorical solitaire.

There was a man, a lonely man
who lost his love through his indifference
a heart that cared that went unshared
until it died within his silence
CHORUS:
And solitaire's the only game in town
every road that takes him takes him down
while life goes on around him everywhere
he's playing solitaire
And keeping to himself begins to deal
still the king of hearts is well concealed
another losing game comes to an end
and he deals them out again
A little hope goes up in smoke
just how it goes, goes without saying
There was a man, a lonely man
who would command the hand he's playing
And solitaire's the only game in town
and every road that takes him takes him down
while life goes on around him everywhere
he's playing solitaire
And keeping to himself begins to deal
still the king of hearts is well concealed
another losing game comes to an end
and he deals them out again
And solitaire's the only game in town
and every road that takes him takes him down
while life goes on around him everywhere
he's playing solitaire
Playing solitaire

Location: In the girls toilets at Hogwarts, washing the blood off my hands.
Have seen that song used by parents for videos about their autistic kids.
The lyrics of Stone Sour - Through Glass
Never thought about that song in that way before; only that I connected with it the first time I heard it (before diagnosis). Now I understand why!
