What kinds of hangouts/restaurants/neighborhoods would I find eclectic, liberal, hipster-types?

hipsters in Texas? Hmmm, dubious.

They do exist, I just want to know where to find them.

I am not familiar with the area, but what I would do is look for any band gig's going on in the area, you might get lucky, Austin has a great music scene, so if your looking for a hipster crowded, go where the music is, there's no shortage

Austin is a completely liberal city unlike any else in Texas. Nothing at all like San Antonio.

There is nothing but hipsters it seems at times The "Soco" (South congress) area, near the university... places like Spider House, Crown and Anchor.

Austin has a huge number of Facebook and Twitter users, mostly iPhone
