Well, well! Nintendo announced on Thursday that next month will mark the release of their new version of the DS, boasting a camera, and a slimmer design with 3.25 inch screens and enhanced audio capabilities. I for one am quite excited, has anyone else heard of this news?

^^ Wowees, I certainly did not know of the magical announcement. ^^ Thank you very much for informing, Alas, I do not believe I shall purchase the happy console as I already possess a Nintendo DS Lite and possess a lack of funds.

I am also excited, and I have a link to the Official Japanese site. Here
If I buying or not buying it, will be a big question, I have a unit, but I wonder of cost.

It claims that it will be selling at $179. However, I doubt that either it will cost that much, or that it will be in supply. I mean, look at the wii :P
I can't wait, and thanks for the link!

Yeah, but I guess that we should have already done all the DS to GBA connection there is... or we keep the previous unit.

From what I gather, it's not actually a new handheld, it's just a revision to the DS, like the Lite was...most of the additions I can already do with homebrew, so I think I'll pass.

But we don't really know too much about it yet, maybe it'll turn out that they actually did beef it up or something.

The loss of the GBA slot sucks, though...it wasn't just for GBA games, there were quite a fer peripherals that used the slot, like the rumble pak, the Guitar Hero grip, Arkanoid paddle, etc...doesn't look like there's any way to do stuff like that with the new model =/

here's some more info on the new DSi:

The DSi will be equipped with a small camera featuring two lenses (one located inside, next to the microphone and another on the outside of the unit) and the ability to edit photos with the touch screen. Images can be saved for export via the new SD memory card slot added to the right side of the handheld next to the stylus holster.

The new storage capacity also fits perfectly with the DSi's new music playing capabilities, While players lose the ability to play GBA titles, the redesign more than makes up for it with the ability to download and play DS games from the new "Nintendo DS Shop" - which is similar to the company's popular WiiWare service. The DSi will come with the system's web browser installed, and players will be able to hit the 'net to purchase and digitally download "Nintendo DS Ware" games directly to the handheld. Using a four-tier pricing scheme, DS Ware titles will be run $2, $5, and $8. Some titles will be free to download as well.

That would be sweet if they came out with something like Phidias or Colors!, except...I already have those two ;)

But it would be cool for people without homebrew ¬_¬

Remember when GameBoy did nothing but play games. Yeah, those were the days.

Meh, I already have a DS lite and I'm not about to buy a new model because it looks a tiny bit better, but basically does the same.

I still remember the brick the original Gameboy was.

I don't know if I'll upgrade my DS. Don't know if the extra features are worth it to me.

I still have my original Gameboy and sometimes I still play it

I didn't know about this, but I don't think I'll be buying one. My DS is solely for playing games, and I don't buy downloadable games anyway. So meh.

Do you have the original GB Tetris?
