hand-flapping for my daughter is a sign of anxiety.....same for my hubby and son.......some people flap when they're happy- my NT son does not handflap even though it's all around him....i'd say that your son's hand-flapping is genuine, and not copied from other kids

You should be happy he just flaps. My son bites his fingers, just like me. Hand flapping is a perfectly harmless stim to have.

I used to to bite my fingers too when I was in element school. I felt a lot of stress in element school. I stopped doing it in middle school.

koosh balls are still easily available to buy- am have loads of them,got the last one [purple,lights up-though bulb went quickly] from somewhere that has more to do with animals than stim toys-knowsley safari park.
good places to start are ebay,and special needs shops online.
