Well, more than usual, anyways.

I was looking at a picture of a house made to look like a salvador dali, and I felt physically sick.
And I was at a party, and I found myself lining up packets of jammie dodgers.

Do you have days in which you find yourself being more autistic than usual?

gad yes. It is why I am virtually isolated 100%.

Too many times I would be like, "OH, today is a good day. I can go to XY Z and act normal and no one will know and people will like me and I will make friends..."

Only to get there and stare into my water and not be able to communicate.

Other times I have been dragged somewhere and sure it would suck and end up making a friend.

It's madness.

Yeah, once in October me and a film-making group went out of town for an overnight stay to see our film in a film festival. I was very autistic then as I found it hard to socialise with the other group members. And when our film was mentioned we were supposed to cheer which I struggled at, then I had to watch the other people when the certificates were announced so I'd know what to do. And when looking around the museum (where the festival was) on my own the busy crowd was hard to handle. Bad autistic day.

There are moments when I feel very detached from everyone, and these are the moments in which I feel most autistic.
I was having a moment like that not too long ago and then someone said hi to me. When they did I felt a lot better.

Absolutely. If I go very many days without making myself be social, I "forget" how to be as such, and, in turn, become more anti-social. I'm not sure how much of it is an actual regression and how much of it is simply a realization of how much work it is to analyze what everyone else is doing/saying/social dynamic of the room, and determining how I should appropriately fit myself into that dynamic. Probably a mix of both.

I don't understand. How can you be a bit autistic one day and on another day not be a bit autistic. :?:

I think she just means her symptoms were more prominent than they usually are. I have a question though. What is a jammie dodger? LOL

I'm just me, everyday. Using professional speech to those that are not friends and relaxed speech with friends. I suppose I use my extreme speech when I don't wish to talk, I never give a definitive answer. A question may sound ideal to end in a yes or no, but I always find a way to get out of them.

Damn those childhood games where (I think) they teach you to use more words instead of the basics.

"Is that you, Keith?" and I would reply, "Of course" or if I don't know "I would like to know who you are before I start to talk to you"

Yes, I certainly do have days (and weeks) when my symptoms are more prominent.

Also some situations bring symptoms to the fore. Take shops for instance, they can be very overwhelming, but what really brings out the AS in me is displays that are 'out of order'. I always feel a strong compulsion to put the products in their rows, stand up products that have fallen over, etc. It can drive my partner nuts and he often has to literally drag me away from 'sorting' the items/products.

Yup.

Some days I feel like I wake up as me with aspergers or me without it, me with a social handicap or a social advantage, me with the right or left half of my brain.

And both are great for different reasons: my AS helps me do all the fun things I like to do like have my sense of humour, math and logical skills, but when it fades or becomes less noticeable I gain social understanding, heightened empathy, and the ability to fit in.

But I've found that if I try to do me and be consistent, however I might feel, and that helps me get through the day.

Being self employed I have to do the work and then come home and do the paperwork. I have a very hard time switching from one to the other, my brain just stops and I cannot think. The worse part is that some people think I’m lazy. It’s not like I don’t want to work, I mean I love working but I just cannot seem to multitask. I just wish I could do one thing and one thing alone.

A couple of nights ago I was at a concert and the noise and lights were really getting to me. I isolated myself from the crowd by sitting in a far corner. I started off fine chatting to the bands, but then suddenly I just stopped what I was doing and sat down, rocking and stimming.
