From my experience us aspies are really good at throwing people off with our deadpan sarcasm. I know I do it a lot, though usually it's unintentional. I'm often too lazy to be bothered with giving the non-verbal cues that would indicate that I'm being sarcastic. That or I just forget. Forgeting to use my own body language is more of a weak point for me than failure to read it in other people.

ha ha.... fogetting to use body language..... As much as I don't use any real body language, I do talk with my hands a lot, and that generally helps me out there, but it just isnt true body langauge. Many people get very frustrated with my sarcasm, and a lot are confused..... and I'm like, "did you here the tone of voice I didn't seem to use?"

Sarcasm helped me cope through my childhood.

Helpful post.

Lost so many friends throughout my life because of my continuous use of sarcasim/teasing behaviour. Teenager years were the worst at school. Did not matter how many times I self annalysed or punished myself for this behaviour, same scenario each social encounter with friends.

Any comments in regards to thinking this behaviour is obsessive compulsive. My behaviour was urge driven and at times impulsive, especially if the social interaction was not stimulating.

I felt great shame at this behaviour and my lack of self control over the urge.

Heh. Then again, for me I most the time never had the friends, so what's there to lose??

Cutting Sarcasm topic

I learned it from my mother. My NT ex-husband never used it. Neither does my NT son.

My NT daughters know how to snip with it.
