I am watching the news and they just mentioned "shy eating." Another eating disorder. It's when someone is so self conscious about their weight, they fear people will be grossed out to see them eat.

Last year, I heard of another eating disorder, pregnorexia  . It's when a pregnant woman refuses to eat enough food because they don't want to gain a lot of weight.

I find it amusing how doctors keep coming up with conditions for behavior. What's next? Misconceptions disorder? Maybe doctors ought to come up with a name for pure ignorance. What shall we call it?

Yeah! I am curious as to what the brand-new oh-so-special DSM V will include.....hmm.

My contribution: By virtue of the DSM IV TR vested in me, I Dx the following next NT is "Nuts, NOS." Code # 329.00

*Disclaimer: I just made up that Code #. If it in fact coincides to a 'real' DSM IV TR existing Code #, or those afflicted with said condition or heck-ish awful disorder or mal-adjustment, Lab Pet apologies. Or you can merely sue Wrong Planet in leiu on account of WP in fact indulges me when I show-off in this manner.

Shy Eating? Egads.

There was even some mental condition termed (don't know the exact wording), "Post-OJ Simpson Syndrome" for those news watchers who had withdrawl symptoms from the 'exciting' world of OJ Simpson's ridiculousness! I don't know what DSM IV TR Code # that one is though.

Yes, and now it's to be revised. Meet DSM V....as if it weren't confusing enough; no one even understands the previous version(s) yet.

And why revise, in philosophical terms? This implies the first four versions just didn't work out - why is that? The human mind, or human condition, really has not evolved, in any respect, since DSM I was introduced! Or I guess 'they' likely had 'DSM' since the 'I' would mean there would be a sequel. IT'S LIKE A BAD ROCKY MOVIE!! !!

Just like the household cleaning product Formula 409. The first 408 versions just didn't work out. Is it so hard to make a surfactant?
Likewise.

Remember that news =/= doctors. This "shy eating" would probably be considered a diagnostic criteria for anorexia or ED-NOS. Not an illness on its own.

Im glad they revise the DSM. After all, homosexuality used to be considered an illness in the DSM. It's not anymore.
