I have always been curious what would a sub-atom bomb explosion look like? I mean the sheer energy as subatomic particles rip apart would be quite amazing to see but how large would the blast be? Oh I wish I knew so badly I am so curious it is driving me crazy can anyone help me out I would be so appreciative.

are you talking about an atomic bomb being detonated underwater or somehow harnessing the power of sub-atomic particles like neutrinos, photons and quarks and utilizing them to create an explosion?

Hmmm I suppose that would work but I would prefer to see a just a sub-atom bomb goo BOOM in the sky ^_^

It actually might not be as strong as you'd think.

The reason atomic bombs are so powerful is because they unleash something called the strong nuclear force. This is the same force that binds atomic nuclei together. Subatomic particles however are not necessarily held together so strongly (or at least in such a way that we can unleash the energy so readily).

Of course science has only barely scratched the surface in that area. And since this is particle physics common sense doesn't always apply.

You know, I googled 'sub atom' bomb and this forum post was 4th from the top.
Sorry mate, no idea what you're talking about :)

I think he means a quantum level bomb, who knows we may have one if they find the Higgs Boson and if they can get LHC working.

Wouldn't that just be typical of humanity. Picking up the fundamental bricks of the universe and bashing heads with them.

Fingers crossed on the LHC though.

I have been told that the 'explosion' if you could call it that, would occupy a sphereical space approximately 36 inches in diameter. At least that's about the best we can do with todays technology.

Not sure what you mean by "sub-atom-bomb". Photons are a common byproduct of subatomic interactions if that helps...

I think they found a new plastic/silicon burning smell the last time they turned it on.
