Please don't read this article of the Guardian. I am no strict vegetarian (eat mostly fish and a lot of vegetables) but once I was walking in the hills near Alessandria, in Piedmont, and I met a friendly pig in a cage who was certainly fated for slaughter and it (he, she?) grunted to me amiably, probably happy to be provisionally out of his more restricted prison. That happened some 30 years ago, but since then I abstained to eat pork. What can we do here? It's all a "system" said my father when I started, as a child, a vegetarian diet. An I think he was right. But still I feel horror for such a "system". If you feel the same horror please do not read the article. There is no need fo Grandin's "hug machines". because pigs neve walk anywhere.
