I'm bored, maybe you are to: Let's make a wonky math game!

Page 1 of 1 [ 9 posts ]

What kind of game should it be?
Board game like chess or go 50%  50%  [ 6 ]
Card game like bridge or poker 0%  0%  [ 0 ]
Chance game like roulette or lottery 0%  0%  [ 0 ]
Combination of all three 42%  42%  [ 5 ]
This idea is stupid. 8%  8%  [ 1 ]

What we need: Somebody, or somebodies, versed in some code, able to pull off all the algorithms we are going to use. And everybody else to squabble over the rules. The algorithms are going to be relatively simple, just that there is eventually going to be many rules.

Anyways, it is best to first verse yourself on the dadaist games of Mornington Crescent and Numberwang.

Now, to make a surreal, pretentious, over-bearing game with rules unbeknown to the players but administered by a dealer who knows all the rules. The dealer is the computer if we are to actually attempt this. Then end result should come out seemingly like a game of politics and political economics that it lampoons the two.

Anyways, as for the general premise of the game, I think we should decide on what kind of game it should be: a board game, a card game, a chance game or a combination of all three.

Number Munchers is the best math game I have ever played. It's kind of old, I think from the late 80's and was for Apple computers, but you should check it out.

Otherwise, i'm am of no use because I don't find math interesting and I'm not that great at it.

The math isn't going to be much formulas, rather it's going to be used to design something like maybe deciding which move is allowed and what not and which person is in a more superior position.

i like the idea of one person knowing the answer

hmm.. and then working out the answer.. by questioning him/her.

stuff like codes.. could be interesting..(like that movie______)

building something big..

cracking codes could be fun..

:) PM me if you serious bout making game..

Can I make a suggestion for the poll? I think there should be an option for a game that does my degree for me...

Something on Algebraic Number Theory would be especially helpful. Thankage in advance.

Alright, I found a better adjective than surreal: wonky. That's what I'm looking for.

Wonky: to be overwrought with arcane rules and intricacies, a more strange version of pedantic.
