Years ago on Match.com I decided to try something different for my profile. I posted a list of 10 questions, each with two choices, to see if I could find somebody who shared all ten of my preferences. The list included things like:
Would you rather have a 68 Chevy Camaro or 05 Cadillac Escalade?
Do you prefer to touch or be touched?
Would you rather eat dinner at a Chinese hole-in-the-wall or a fancy Italian restaurant?
Anyway, I got about 20 replies, one of which got all the right answers (ie, the same as mine). So I called him and we went out. Oddly enough, our birthdays were the same also. Even odder, he was very weird. I had lunch with him and couldn't stand to be with him for even one hour.
Lesson learned: just because somebody likes all the same things you do, doesn't mean you're compatible.
Lastly, FYI, my current partner of over 2 years is someone I did end up meeting on that website. It can work.
