Depeche Mode - But Not Tonight
Quote:
Here on my own All on my own How good it feels to be alone Tonight And I haven't felt so alive In years

I strongly identify with these songs.
Off topic but Three Dog Night has always been an underappreciated act. The "oldies" stations rarely play them and if they do it's only "Joy To The World". Yet from '69 through '75 they had 21 consectutive top 40 singles which were better then most of the songs that the "greatest hits" stations play over and over.

Growing up being a bit different and not knowing why, this song became my theme song. Don't know if it is an "Aspie" song per se but and I'm not sure what Dee Snider was writing about, but it got me through a lot of the hard times growing up. Still in my top 3 all time...
I am, I'm me
Who are you to look down At what I believe? I'm on to your thinking And how you deceive
Well, you can't abuse me I won't stand no more Yes, I know the reasons Yes, I know the score
I am and I'll be I will, you'll see I am and I'll be I am, I'm me
How I tried to please you Live the way you said Do the things that you do Like the living dead
Then the truth it hit me Got me off my knees It's my life I'm living I'll live as I please
I am and I'll be I will, you'll see I am and I'll be I am, I'm me
Now's the time to stand tall Start your life anew Freedom lies in your heart Now's the time for you
I am and I'll be I will, you'll see I am and I'll be I am, I'm me
Can't you see? Can't you see? I'm me, I'm me, me, me, me, me I am, I'm me I am, I'm me
Can't you see? Can't you see? I'm me, I'm me, I'm me I am, I'm me I am, I'm me
Can't you see that I'm me? I'm me, I'm me, look at me I am, I'm me I am, I'm me

I interpret this one as the ultimate aspergers meltdown song, with the build up and all. A lot of people prolly won't like this song, it's loud and thrashy.

There's a great song by Dream Theater (one of my all time favourite bands) called 'Solitary Shell'. Specifically, it's written about people with autism...but a lot of the lyrics can come across as being related to AS as well.
Love me some Dream Theater. I can add two more:
MISUNDERSTOOD "How can I feel abandoned, even when the world surrounds me? How can I bite the hand that feeds the strangers all around me? How can I know so many, never really knowing anyone? If I seem superhuman, I have been misunderstood."
THESE WALLS "Tear down these walls for me Stop me from going under You are the only one who knows I'm holding back
It's not too late for me To keep from sinking further I'm trying to find my way out Tear down these walls for me now"
