His theory gave me a valuable understanding of the nature and origins of life. We would have very little understanding or explanation of life were it not for the theory of evolution. And knowledge is the thing I value the most. And Darwin's book ignited modern biology. Modern biology touches everyone's lives through medicine, agriculture and environmental engineering.

Praise the parents from Charles Darwin that they made such a intelligent human 208 years ago.

To solve and understand the puzzle its necessary to understand the dutch language.

Richard Dawkins is also a big fan from Darwin. Dawkins made a long documentaire about Darwin.

Happy birthday to Charles Darwin, and also to Abraham Lincoln, both born 12 February 1809.

I knew an old professor who used to ask students, "What internationally famous person was born on February 12th, 1809?" His American students would all answer "Abraham Lincoln." Then he would say, "No, no, I said internationally famous." :D

Folks in the US know who Garibaldi, Bismark, and Queen Victoria, were. Likewise folks outside the US have some idea who Lincoln was. So I would say that Lincoln is "internationally" famous.

But I agree that Darwin's impact was more international than Lincoln's.

He is certainly the father of modern biology science as much as Einstein is the father of modern physics.

He has shown us the badass beauty of nature and he has freed us from totalitarian Christian oppression.

209

For the mayority on the planet is a few days ago the year 2018 started. I love freedom, so also the freedom for them who want to use the creationistic way of counting the years. I follow another way of counting the years, i follow the year that Charles Darwin is born. So in my world its now 209-after-Darwin

Darwin introduced a very useful idea into biological science.

Once that has been shown to have applications beyond biological science (e.g. Genetic Algorithms etc).

The theory is more or less as proven as any scientific theory can be (but the thing with science is that theories are NEVER proven - they are only disproven).

Combined with Mendel's work, the realm of genetics was founded - the utlity of which is debatable. :?

I don't think the theory of evolution is going to be disproven.

I am however curious if it is feasible at all that if us humans successfully created artificailly intelligent robots....could they ever evolve like the Cylons on Battle-star Galactica do?

"Darwin raises many followers" is how they translate it online.
