I find its been thearaputic for me atleast I can take out frustration with most video games (especially 2D-fighters slap it into training mode and just mash away) I fond when im depressed sometimes a good session on anygame especially on maybe Live is helpfull but it depends on the individual I guess.

I find strategic war games help the theme of my thinking in business. If there was not anything strategic to do I'd be depressed.

I feel better since I stopped. I wonder if it's an unhealthy way to relax.

Everything in moderation including moderation itself.

I like Call of Duty 4 Multiplayer but for pure strategy in war I like Rome - Total War. I do not view it as therapeutic at all. Something other then doing candle work but I also like house plants and gardening.

However if we view the subconscious as a instinctual mechanism of our conscious manifestation in desire then human nature is violence or of tendency. I just like the math of strategy in the abstractic sense and the metaphoric dynamic of war and marketing, social and cultural diversity vs. survival and resolve.

Like I said everyone is different in this respect it just depends on how you handle that experience like I said for me it releaves my usually high stress levels caused by random instences of depression.

I guess it is for me, I actualy even got a doctor once to give me permision to play to relive stress and anxiety I built up. I like the rush of just being able to rush in and do things, I plan ahead of time, imagine suroundings, know a strategy and go in, and if somthing goes wrong changing strategies is not too hard or I can start over. And it can realy boost my confidence when I achieve somthing quite difficult.

Depression comes from thoughts, the obtrusive ones related to my obsessions usually for me. Games provide a fairly good means of distraction (in so far as they distract at least partically 80% of the time). I really don't know what I would do without them. Read more perhaps, but that is less reliable.

Anything that gets you to talk to others is good therapy. But gaming does need to be done in moderation.

Yeah definitely. I play JRPG's with a lot of character devlopment. Growing up, I think it helped compensate for my lack of friends and interaction with others. It somehow made me feel less lonely. Still does I suppose.

Yes, video games, especially shooters, are great for venting your frustrations, at least in my experience. However, my social anxiety is high enough that even my gaming is somewhat affected by it... I never play online, and I don't even play offline RPG's that much (due to all the "social interaction" with NPC's.) I'm the most comfortable with single-player FPS games. I guess I prefer playing against AI-controlled monsters than real humans...

For me, I like CoD: WaW multiplayer. I immerse myself into the role of my player and it me to unwind as I think as he would. I let my mind drift and soon enough, I'm relaxed...
