Has anyone ever seen the film Zeitgeist? It's a documentary about the conspiracy theories surrounding religion, government, 9/11, and the Federal Reserve Bank. What are your thoughts on it?

For anyone interested the full movie can be found somewhere on youtube, just type it in the search box.

Much of the points it makes about the Christin religion are poorly founded. While there are lots of points to contend that the reasoning for accepting the dogmas of Christianity and the Bible are hopelessly illogical, the points in Zitegist seem almost like a deliberate effort to bring up flimsy arguments for the apologists to knock down. Go figure.

If you want to see something enlightening about the 9/11 conspiracy and the psychology that motivated it search out
"The Power of Nightmares".

What he said.

Seriously, I did the research, and IIRC it was 25% truth, 25% falsehood which could be accidental, and 50% falsehood of such a type that theres just no way he made a mistake with it.

Anyway, that doco is widely loathed across the internet, a much more interesting one can be found here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 2013377089

Overall, the things it says about Christianity are poorly founded. It does make the correct statement that RELIGIONS typically misrepresent things to control people.

I am a Christian, but I do not adhere to any church doctrine so blindly as to not watch what is being taught and if it is backed by actual scripture. I have seen churches promote dogma that is not based in the Bible because it results in the allocation of political power.

Otherwise, the movie does a good job of documenting many things that are going on in the world. RELIGION is often a conspiracy, especially if you follow where the political power has flowed over the years. I know of many "religions" that have violated their own teachings to gain political influence.

The movie is almost complete bunk. Yes, you have to pay taxes (Americans, anyway) and 9/11 wasn't an inside job. The bits about Christianity are interesting, but pointless.
