I feel about 80% lighter than I did 10 years ago, if you get what I'm saying. I don't know if I can explain this any better.
I blame the internet. |

the happier I am, the less bad it seems. but then it's a downward spiral of getting mroe unhappy because i suck at talking to people, and getting worse again because i'm unhappy..
basically different symptoms vary in prevalence over time.... not really less or lighter so much as shifted

No, but I have met one or two people with whom I clicked in such an unusual way that my Asperger's seemed to go into remission with them - well, not totally, but the symptoms receded a lot. It wasn't in general though, just when interacting with those individuals. I'm not sure what it was about them that created such an extraordinary reaction in me. Maybe I'll find someone like that to marry! |

I've met people like that too.... it's nice... some of them were even enough that it helped me deal with everyone else too while they were around

People might say I'm too social to be an aspie. I have a boyfriend. I hang out in pubs, both alone and with him. I have a job. I'm about to complete an advanced degree.
But every day, someone makes some reference to my AS traits - non-verbal communication "quirks", tendency to take things literally, strange & obsessive interests, extreme attention to detail, etc. So my AS must be pretty obvious.
I think this could be taken as an inspiring success story. Apparently, at least some people with obvious AS can function fairly normally in society.
Of course, if one still qualifies for the diagnosis, there will be some areas of difficulty. But I know I at least have overcome a lot and learned a lot in order to do many of the things that most people take for granted. I was once essentially non-verbal and indifferent to most of the world outside of my head. |

| Honestly, sometimes I forget I have it. I don't really let it define me. It's a part of who I am, but it's by no means all of who I am. And, I don't generally think "Oh, I'm thinking like this right now because of my AS" but later when I think about my day is when I realize all the things that were part of my AS, if that makes sense I don't really know how to explain it. |

Well sometimes I wonder if I have it since my grandparents and friends and their parents don't think I have it but I've been officially diagnosed and my case is mild so I can see why they think that. _________________ Ace Attorney Quote of the week:

I don't know, I've only known I've had it for a week.
I probably would have gone through my life just thinking I was a quirky or flawed person otherwise.
However, now that I know that I have it, I know it was a lot more pronounced when I was younger. |

You learn and grow over time, it's somewhat inevitable to some degree as long as the person is aware and is interested in improving themselves and doesn't give up/in. |

| When I'm without and obsession, yes I sometimes feel like I've "lost" my AS, but then I'll do something and realise that I haven't, it's just not as obvious when I don't dedicate all of my time to one subject. |

Sometimes because of the skills I learned. I learned to be flexible, not to talk about my obsessions all the time, how to care about other people, I don't stim as much like I used to, I can come up with things to talk about. I don't feel so different anymore like I did when I was a kid. That's because I am an adult now and am out of school. I got better treatment in middle school and high school so it made me feel less different. _________________ http://www.factcheck.org/
