I have no problem with being called that. It is very accurate. I have my inner world in my head that I live in, so why does it matter? My department members nearly went crazy during COVID restrictions because they could not see each other in person. I loved every minute that I did not have to see th...

I have to deal with very manipulative coworkers on a daily bases. They try to locate weaknesses in others and then exploit them. I get really tired of their constant mind games. Case in point, at my last departmental meeting two of my coworkers were asking everyone for their personality type set. It...

If you changed the squares inside the tube to hexagons, you would have an accurate approximation of the view inside a carbon nanotube. (They can be left hollow or filled with atoms.) Usu...

Austria and Germany have made vaccines mandatory for all citizens. I recommend all other countries do the same. It would only stop part of the problem. The new strain is not deactivated by the current version of the vaccines. We now have to develop a new vaccine to fight this strain. The previous v...

Could we destroy the virus with radiation like we do with cancer? Not without killing the patient in the process. The viruses are usually well spread in the body. The point of curing diseases is not just to kill the pathogens but to do it without harming the ill person more than the pathogens do . ...

Ten months into Joe Biden's presidency, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell continues to insist that Donald Trump was the real winner of the 2020 election and will be moving back into White House -- and he is disappointed that right-wing Fox News is not giving more coverage to his bogus election fraud claims...

I bought my fair share of doorbuster deals online today. Half of my Christmas shopping is now done. The rest will have to be bought in stores. I scored a very rare signed comic book for a quarter of what it is actually worth. That one is going to a good friend who collects that character. I do miss ...

With so many variations of humans to infect, it is really no surprise that it can mutate over and over again. The virus is undergoing a form of genetic evolution to survive. Those variations that can easily be stopped will tend to fade off, while those that tend to be replicated more will survive. ...

One of the possible after effects of Covid-19 is the loss of smell and taste. I have a student who had Covid-19 six months ago and lost both. The medical doctors do not know if or when it may return. Her foods have no flavor to her yet, but she can remember what it tastes like when she eats it.

QFT and Pieplup: I hope you both get better soon. It can get nasty quickly so take care to watch for changes. Get medical help if your conditions worsen. Waiting too long before getting help can be deadly with this virus.

Yes, there have been advances in this area of robotics. Individual molecules can be made to do similar functions with the right stimuli. An example is a nanocar race from four years ago: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v= It will not be long before the devices get more functional with the inclusion of c...

I collect older fountain pens when I can find them at estate sales. There is probably 150 or so of them in my collection. One does have an iridium nib, which is fairly rare. My favorite fountain pen to use in signing documents is an Montblanc Meisterstuck.
