When someone with autism is employed they always seem to work hard and don’t get paid much for it. I read somewhere that employers can pick up on that fact that the autistic employee is only doing the job benefit of the work and not the money. I also think employers are discriminating against autis... |

My wife recently got a "new" car. It's a Ford from about 10 years back and it includes a bunch of driver aids to make driving more comfortable, and somewhat safer. I do wonder how many more autistic people will be able to drive with things like blind spot detection, and automatic emergenc... |

self-driving cars can't come soon enough for me. I'm not convinced they'll ever become viable on roads with human drivers. If they can't operate safely around human drivers they shouldn't be allowed on the road at all. I think the FSD (Full Self Driving) of Tesla is becoming extremely good. As good... |

Applying for jobs is riskful for me. When an application is pretty succesful, there is a fair chance, there will be an interview. There is some chance that I get the job. Unfortunately there is a fair chance that the employer appears not to like me. No are minor complaints, but I would get fired for... |

Since yesterday a co-worker was very tired, a slight burn-out, so she stayed home. Another co-worker did some tasks that the first co-worder would, if she weren't ill. I talked with him. "I think she told you how to do things, for example pritting reports for students with figures (how they hav... |

Women don't usually ask men out or make other moves that put them in the situation to risk rejection. I don't think risk of rejection and the hurt involved is something women reflect on. They are more corncerned about the possibility that they will have to handle unwanted interest from a man. In th... |

Relationships are often initiated by non verbal communication. Someone who is autistic may not relalize that a potential partner is signalling them non-verbally and thus ignores the overtures that person is making. This. 100%. I'm convinced I've missed lots of opportunities because of this. The rev... |

I am Dutch, I was even non-verbal autistic, until I was 5 years old. Then I started talking and at the same time I learned a few other things like reading, writing and also reading music sheets. At 6 I learned to play organ, but I was a little boy, so playing organ was difficult, until I was a bit t... |

Autistic people do, indeed, drive. Spectrum. I drive and consider myself a superb driver. I know an autistic man who's an Amazon delivery driver. At autistic social events, there are autistics who drive to them. There's also a NASCAR driver who's autistic. I am a very experienced driver as well. So... |

For me, it's other way around. My previous bosses were only interested in money, didn't care about my health, weren't interested in my skills and things I want to learn, refused to talk to me. The task they gave me are way to simple. They didn't want to talk with me about my deficiencies. Since Marc... |

I almost never lie, for 2 reasons. First, I'm honest and direct by nature. I say what i think, ir say nothing. Lying usually just doesn't occur to me. Second, lying is difficult for me. I'm just nit good ar it. If I lied in the way many NTs do, I'd get my lies mixed up and very quickly get caught. ... |

In most of the cases there is no reason to lie, so I will be honest then. |

Sure you know that being highly intelligent does not mean being capable. Many, and if I'm being quite honest most, highly intelligent people do not have the other skills necessary to be a good executive secretary. Hard to say. May some are highly intelligent but being an executive secretary does no... |

A long while ago I applied for an executive secretary at my current employer (after acquiring a related diploma). But thinking I can't handle it (too hight workload), the employer decided to ask a carreer coach to find a job that would be better for me. My employer doesn't like autistic people, but ... |

I would like to work with a job coach, but it is too much of a hassle to arrange that. Do I have a work handicap? I don't know. Yes, I have ASD, but am I not able to do certain things, for example administrative procedures or tasks? I am not convinced. I have no proof I can. But my boss hasn't any ... |
