I'm a person with Autism who was diagnosed late in life. They didn't have a term for me growing up when my mom took me to Drs because I was different. I was called hyper-active because I liked to hop around on one foot or roll my body into a ball and roll around the living room. I was ignored and pu...

I am almost 50 yrs old, and throughout my life I thought I was being friendly and people were my friends only to find out I was mistaken. I am unsure what it means to be a friend. I feel I must be doing it wrong or have the wrong idea of what a friend is in reality. People will say they are my frien...

Oh God, yes. My family were the first people that really made no sense to me. They seem to incite so much drama in their own lives that spills into mine. My youngest sister even told me I was her conscience. I guess that's a good job for someone with Autism since I am very rules driven but it made m...

-8, though I feel better than yesterday -10, but that's only because I am shut down and feeling relatively numb and tired. Every verbal interaction with people is exhausting.

I completely understand. I feel that way too. I continually run into aspie obstacles. To get ahead you have to be social and be liked, I tend to annoy people so I am not liked and I am not overly social ergo no promotions, and everything I do seems to be taken for granted. I want you to know I under...

My family just called the meltdowns fits. I've had my mother, siblings, husband, and even my kids says I was insane. They make me feel like a monster because to them I was over reacting to whatever the situation. I never hurt them. I've thrown things around, pushed a chair over, and even hurt myself...

I went in for the assessment. It did help me with my college courses since I am now able to take advantage of the disability services and with declaring my dogs as emotional support animals. Other than those things, all I got was yep you have mild autism look stuff up on the internet. I kind of laug...

I've been planning for years, decades actually to move into a new house once my kids were grown. I have a very logical list of reasons to do so which helped me over the first hurled of not wanting to break my everyday patterns and enact such a big change. The process however has been a nightmare for...

Not cutting but I when I get overwhelmed I usually dig my nails into my body, scratch myself, or hit my arms and head with either my fists or a hanger. I've found recently if I put pressure on both sides of my head (and I mean to the point it hurts a little) that it calms me down at least for a bit.

Anytime I make a friend, or think I've made a friend I tend to be obsessed with that person. Any action they make I analyze to see if they still like me. I want to be with them as much as possible. Even though I don't particular feel social. I don't know why. Usually I either smother them or drive t...

This has been a rough year. At first things were great, I was doing well at work. My co-workers know about my Aspergers which allowed me to lessen anxiety since they now clearly communicate with me without so much ambiguity. I was told I was even up for a possible promotion. The next thing I knew my...
