Yes. For me, it's mostly geometry that repeats - grids, tesselations, and fractals. In part, this is because I have a kind of syneasthesia which connect visual stimuli with my senses of touch and proprioception. These sensations are very hard to describe as they aren't "like" anything that...

you may find that disconcerting when you discover 'why', though I hope not Not at all - that is by a wide margin the most compassionate, comprehensible, and relatable description of DID that I have ever read. If it disconcerts people, then I suggest that it is only because their own perceptions of ...

The usual answer, though I can't vouch for it's veracity (it is heard most often from the broadsheet publishers), is this... Broadcast sites may be profitable from advertising revenue alone, because the substance of their content is generally syndicated (or just plain-old thieved) from official pres...

although NT persons may have functional Theory of Mind, it may not be all that functional when it concerns the minds of people on the spectrum Exactly that. Any pair of people are likely to empathise with each other more successfully if their experiences are more similar - it provides a basis for i...

My fear of heights has become steadily worse and worse as I've got older. These days, I'm like the OP; my stomach turns even seeing still photos of people near cliff edges, high-wire walking, or climbing up the sides of buildings. A video of something like that coming up unexpectedly on YouTube can ...

Yes, that all sounds very familiar - right down to the thing of it being about the "procedural" side of things. And not just teachers, either - in the workplace, dealing with officials in tax/benefit offices, healthcare appointments, making arrangements for social occasions, etc. But, for ...

I live alone and my upstairs neighbor will walk across the floor and I freeze Ah yes, that difficult balance between minimising traceable life-signs by holding one's breath and the danger of making a much louder sound should the oxygen starvation make one faint to the floor! I'd hazard a guess that...

As far as I know I don't come across as awkward physically... My own "as far as I know" has turned out to be quite deceptive. I have known since childhood that something was off with my spacial and postural sense - it was obvious in gym classes at school and when I was in a marching band ...

Hmm, am I right that people here internalize their masking? That your masking is not simply for survival, but you actually want to be proper super fancy adult humans who fight others for social status and dominance? The masking being internalized? Yes, definitely that. Wanting to be proper super fa...

I've been following this thread with great interest, though having trouble marshalling my own thoughts about the subject - so my apologies if what follows is just babble. First, I no longer know who I am without my mask. I've trapped myself in the habit of putting it on and it has become instinctual...

When we look at science we... Oy! Less of this "we" and "they" all over the place - you'd better not be including me in that "we", or I'll be very cross! Most of your arguments simply don't stand up to scrutiny. Your "we" and "they" are most ...

Similarities here with both of the above posts. I pretty much had to be coerced by someone else to go to the doctor for gout because I was limping so badly - but still going out for my daily walk in the countryside (gotta get away from them damned humans). I definitely seem less sensitive to pain ge...

Easiest: Collaborating on some kind of task with one other person with whom I'm already familiar and comfortable. The nature of the task isn't very important - digging a hole or moving furniture is fine - but it has to just be involving enough that visual non-verbal communication isn't too practical...
