It wouldn't even take the accents and bad audio to knock me out for the count in way less than 90 minutes.

I've been struggling more since my diagnosis, and also since 2020 happened. Feels like my confidnce was shaken b the knowledge that things weren't going to improve as I got less anxious - my social skills were always going to be set on "manual." And in the last few years, the middle-aged d...

I wonder if my life-long obsession with Doctor Who is due to this? Quite often, when they try to portray the hero as subtly different from humans, they kind of end up coding him as autistic. "My" Doctor was the 7th, Sylvester McCoy, with his seriously off-kilter body language, aggressively...

One thing that's bothering me - the main alternative for the hobbyist stuff I'm into is forums, and forums are an absolute crapshoot. There are lovely forums, and there are forums that make social media look enlightened. I walked out on a forum for pianists after only 2 months - I'd never met such a...

I have logged out of Facebook and am planning my exit strategy. That is place is a major contributor to the unpleasant state of my brain this past couple of of years. In theory it's good for staying in touch with people, but somehow that isn't what actually happens.

I just heard the word "de-influence." Context: "I de-influenced myself," i.e. got rid of the mental programming from watching too many online "influencers". I think that's a word which could have mere general uses, too.

^I need to listen to Strauss's "Alpine Symphony" more often. Being basically a single 50-minute span of calm immersion, it's quite good for reversing my twitching-manic-wreck tendencies.

I bought my first Lee Oskar brand harmonica last week. I was looking at the oddly-shaped case just now and saw it has like these rails and grooves built into the front and back - - you can slot the cases together. Oh. Oh no. They just found my weakness. The harmonica itself is in D flat. I have a ha...

If anything, I "forget but don't forgive." Unless I have to deal with them on a daily basis, I am not going to give the barstewards the satisfaction of living in my head rent-free. If someone is still out there actively causing harm in the world, forgiving them is just aiding and abetting ...

I keep getting "AITA" and "AMA" mixed up. Like, someone will describe their unusual job and say "Fire away," and I'll be all, "I don't think that makes you a bad person."

The first rule of Phytoplankton Club is: float near the surface of the water where enough sunlight can reach you for photosynthesis.

Claire's Accessories was orignally called Claire's Accessories After the Fact: your one-stop shop for body disposal. They had a sideline in selling small items looted from corpses, and this gradually became more lucrative than their core business of assisting first-time murderers.
