I haven't figure out how participate in threads yet rather than just post in em so I'll try a shorter version:

People are trash. People see you as trash because you're 'people' to them. It's a revolving door of narcissism and solipsism, it's about genes not truth.

The strange horror I feel like I've been slowly sinking into - every year life gets stranger if you didn't fit in, didn't have a place, people can't read you, and you're still alive, not in jail, etc. into your 30's, 40's, 50's, etc.. It's a bit like if you're the odd one out you're supposed to sort...

I agree with all of the above observations but I'd slightly disagree on a nuance. There's a common take people have, even if atheist, materialist, or secular, that at least a simple majority of people, if not a wider majority, are like little Greek philosophers waiting to happen whose core value is ...

It's a Rebel Wisdom zoom discussion (much like they and The Stoa often have). I'm finding this interesting, the core feature being how the landscape of the fourth industrial revolution and hypercapitalism might both be asserting their own gravitational influences on the outcomes of feminism (such as...

We should institute a ban on YouTube content apart from OC or originating from respected sources like BBC. I really have to say - banning 'Youtube' as an entire category would be absurd. There actually is really good content on there to be found, it has a lot more to do with the particular person s...

I've got a very simple starting point for this - predominantly 'social' creatures tune themselves, first and foremost, to local optimums and benefits, meaning 'Believing *what* will help me wring maximum benefit out of my environment?'. The answer to that question is rarely truth and when it is it's...

To paraphrase Joseph Goebbels: When I read the word metamodernism, I reach for my Baudrillard. I have a different take living in the US. For the cultural and media McDonalds we've been raised on I'm surprised we can still even pronounce multisyllabic words. Anything, even cut/diluted a bit from bas...

That had been my general understanding. It's something I think can get behind. I'm a believer in the need for synthesis. We will just need to take care that its ideas and rhetoric are not appropriated by reactionaries to undermine it. They've learned that since they can't come up with new ideas, th...

I don't care for how steeped the article is in ivory tower vocab--it kind of undermines my faith in the articles ability to explain new patterns of understanding when it does so in a way that the psychologically uninitiated cannot understand. I'd love to see this article in plainer English. (I real...

Thanks for sharing! i thought the idea of "Massless" batteries was interesting too https://www.pv-magazine-australia.com/2021/03/30/massless-battery-breakthrough-for-lightweight-evs/ Yeah, that's a really smart idea - if the car/EV battery is the structure of the car there goes the added ...

I might be leaning towards something like this but I'm not sure. The article doesn't have a lot of detail on what it is philosophically or how it differs from a more skeptical and self-aware modernism. Agreed - I thought it would be at least good to see someone define it first. A lot of the people ...

I've heard this name dropped a few times recently and thought this article offered an interesting unpack of the content: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/theory-knowledge/202004/what-is-metamodernism The overall idea - it's on one hand an agreement with many of postmodernism's critiques of mo...
