...and all of us Americans are hypocrites in this regard anyhow. That's the truth. I recycle a lot. We bought a plug-in lawn mower last spring, because gasoline mowers pollute SO much, and it is awesome. And we have a hybrid car. In a recent column by Thomas Friedman in the New York Times, he basic...

Perhaps this should be moved to the Adult Aspergers forum.

I considered that, but it is a parents' issue.

The solution for us has been: sex is not optional, it's mandatory. One night off, fine. Two, OK. Three is pushing it, and by night number four, we are getting laid no matter how tired or stressed we are, or how early we have to get up in the morning. For some reason I keep picturing Bruce the shark...

Sex in itself doesn't take long. But I assume you are including romance, foreplay, petting, etc in this. The traditional ways are more time consuming. You may need to modify the way you do these. Try "quickies". Try sneaking in a cheap feel while your kids are not paying attention. Play the romanti...

The school for our 6-year-old son is (so far) doing great with him. They have a fabulous TAG (talented & gifted) program because he's an amazingly advanced reader, and what seems like a well-organized special ed department, and also a couple of OTs on staff. As soon as we get our diagnosis we ca...

Does anyone have some fabulous tricks they use in order to actually have more sex in their marriage. With a six-year-old AS son and a 22-month-old potentially AS son, we're usually so tired after they go to bed to do anything. We're working on maybe 10 times this year . Sex is not only a great stres...

I think it's totally sensory. Our son is a sensory seeker, especially proprioceptive and vestibular. He loves to run into things. He'll run from the bathroom into his bedroom and take a huge leap onto his bed. He'll jump from the furniture. He always has to shuffle his feet through gravel, sand, wha...

Hey, wait a minute...are you raising my younger son? Our six-year-old has AS, and our younger son will be two in December, but he's not talking either, not even "mamamamama" or "dadadadada" on a regular basis. And he's very verbal, making all kinds of sounds all the time. And he is understanding sig...

If you could be here to experience my son's meltdowns you wouldn't make such a naive statement. I experience my own "meltdowns," thanks. Perhaps your son has simply found a way to manipulate you by pitching fits. Yeah, that's probably what it is. He's found that he can get his way by losing all rea...

My six-year-old son, B, always tells us what he did. If his little brother is crying, B will tell us, "I hit him on the head." Or he'll say, I did such and such to the cat. It's rather odd, but kind of refreshing at the same time.

I am super-gentle and loving with animals now, but when I was a little boy, probably two or three, I threw my dog down the stairs  .

Tigers. They're drop-dead gorgeous animals, they live by themselves, nothing f&#@s with them (except really stupid humans who either hunt them or destroy their habitat). I've always thought there was something magical and just... COOL about cats, but then you get to the big cats and that magic a...

I can come up with "the big picture" -- if we do such and such with the office, then do this and that with the garage, things will be much easier -- but delving into the details of how to accomplish "the big picture" is where I get stuck. All these papers need to be filed, but what categories should...

From Tony Attwood's book The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome : Using the metaphor of a volume control for the emotional intensity of expression, with a gradation from one to ten, a typical child will gradually increase his or her expression of anger through all volume levels. The child or adul...
