The amount of information available would have been wonderful, and might have significantly improved my life. My teenage son has been researching universities and working holiday programs in Europe. Growing up in a small town in a pretty backward area, I had no idea that these options even existed. ...

This is very true for me.

Mentally, I've never fit in at any age. I'm definitely not as "mature" as other people my age, but thats always been true. (I still dont feel like an adult.) Physically, I'm told I look about 10 years younger, but that's always been true as well. Lately, do worry a bit about what would hap...

At random, by chance. We started talking (she, of course, initiated), and discovered that we had a lot in common. Almost 5 years ago. I'm still amazed at my good fortune.

I don't believe in the existence of "the one" perfect partner. That said, the relationship I'm in now is by far the best I've ever had, so I do believe in "the best."

So, your pub associates are not only insulting to you but also racist? I'd definitely find a new pub/peer group.

I almost never lie, for 2 reasons. First, I'm honest and direct by nature. I say what i think, ir say nothing. Lying usually just doesn't occur to me. Second, lying is difficult for me. I'm just nit good ar it. If I lied in the way many NTs do, I'd get my lies mixed up and very quickly get caught. I...

That sounds exciting. My son was very excited to go to Belgium and meet his online girlfriend (his first) a couple of months ago.

My son and I are both AS, and we often annoy each other. Fortunately, he now has a long-distance girlfriend to monologue to.

I definitely come across as eccentric, but probably not diagnosable by a nonprofessional. So I'd wait a while, till I was sure she liked me for my weird self, before explicitly telling her.

I told my girlfriend after about a month, when it was very clear that she was really into me.

I'm misanthropic, too. I'm either bored or annoyed by most people. But I don't endlessly complain about it. That would do no good to anyone, including myself.

A dog is an excellent companion, but is in no way equivalent to a girlfriend.

I'd say you need new parents. Or at least stop listening to the ones you have.

In 3rd grade, at age 10, I was tied to a chair with duct tape over my mouth. I would have hoped that this sort of thing existed only in the past.
