I'm extremely upset right now. Over a year and a half ago I inquired about getting on this thing in my state called an Adult Autism Waiver which is supposed to provide additional services beyond what I'm getting with normal medical assistance. I was told that it would be at least a three year wait j...

The problem isn't really that he refuses to stop using it when he visits. He doesn't use the products when he visits any more. The problem is that the smell gets into everything like cigarette smoke. All the clothes he wears, including jackets, absorb the smell and it won't come out unless they're p...

As an update. Leaving baking soda on the couch overnight really didn't help. It did seem to remove some of the smell, so I can't really smell anything when sitting there, but I'm still having reactions sitting on the couch, or even just leaning over the couch to open/close the blinds. If I stick my ...

I shouldn't even bother replying to someone that thinks I deserve a death sentence if I'm not able to survive on my own, but I'll just say that the fact that you think this is only my problem just shows once again that you don't know enough about my home situation to be making comments like this. If...

The only real solution is for the OP to move out. I found your entire post to be highly insensitive regarding something that is potentially a life-threatening medical issue, which I've been in the ER for twice in the past year. As for moving out, you act like it's so simple when you have no idea wh...

@Trogluddite He does keep a set of pajamas here, but I'm not sure if we have room to keep a few sets of clothes for him given that sometimes he'll stay for four days. The house really isn't very big. We don't even have a guest room for him. He tends to sleep in my sister's room and then she'll sleep...

@BeaArthur Well, she had a stroke over a year ago and I can't understand about 80% of what she says. However, when I told her that it wasn't right that I had to miss family dinner because of him, she said "You're right." I did really appreciate her saying that. I also found it a bit hypocr...

As far as I know, he doesn't wear any actual "cologne" but the Axe deodorant, and possibly the Axe bodywash(and whatever other Axe products he uses) are plenty strong enough on their own. Because of my health issues, I really need people around me to be as fragrance free as possible, and I...

I'll preface this by explaining that I'm extremely sensitive to fragrances and chemical fumes, and I can get really sick depending on the product and the length of exposure including asthma attacks and seizure like symptoms. My uncle likes to use Axe products which are very bad for me and a lot of p...

Hmmm yeah, I sort of do that too with music. I listen to the exact same music every morning as part of my morning routine and sometimes I might listen to something else if I'm really in the mood for something else, but I don't really deviate that often.

Yeah I definitely do rewatch shows I've seen before. It definitely depends on the show, but if it's something I really care about a lot, then I have to watch the entire thing from start to finish, and because of that I'll often wait a few years in between rewatches so I won't get bored, but also par...

Well like I said, I'm not going to write him off completely for that, but it just really threw me off that he didn't know that term when he told me how much experience he had. It was only the second time I saw him and it's honestly going to take a lot more time to build up trust regardless.

I think sensory seeking is a very appropriate term for me, but I don't think it's necessarily the same thing as stimming. Like there are times when I definitely crave certain sensory input, so I seek it out. That's not really the same thing as seeking sensory input because I'm trying to calm myself ...

I had a regular Facebook account many years ago. I liked it when I first joined it, but it changed a lot over the years and I didn't like what it had turned into. It got to the point where I really wasn't enjoying it and didn't have the energy or interest to keep up with it. For quite awhile I never...

I get physically sick if the weather is too warm. I overheat very easily. I would really prefer that it be no warmer than 72-73 degrees. 74 degrees I can handle sometimes, but other times I will start to feel uncomfortably warm at that temperature and it's definitely too warm to sleep. Humidity leve...

Yeah I tend to have a lot of problems with meds. There are certain types of meds that I typically don't respond well to at all. Either I get intolerable side effects, or the meds won't help at all. I've had so many bad experiences with psych meds that I've developed a rather bad phobia to them. I've...
