Hi everyone. I hope the day is treating you well. So I've been seeing a therapist lately trying to get my life figured out and I feel I should get this out there before I do anything else. Ya see, my parents did know I was on the spectrum before I turned 18 (they had me diagnosed) by they didn't tel...

As I've said in a previous thread, I've been trying to embrace my neurodivergence as I'm dealing with a huge amount of internalized ableism for some time, realizing that my being on the spectrum was something I've been repressing, if not outright denying me being on the spectrum ever since one of pa...

Not really. I tend to get dispised, ostracized, or ridiculed around NTs. So I ignore them, do my job and go about my business.

It's been a while since I posted here and I thought this was the time to bring up this topic as I've now realized what I've struggling with for some time and I need to, at the very least, put it out there. There's a bit of history here. I was diagnosed with autism when I was younger than I can remem...

I'm not sure how to word this but this entire experience is confusing. I'm going through an "unmasking" process of being on the spectrum for almost 40 years and I'm going through the experience of finding out who I am underneath all the masking I've done during those decades. Some of my cl...

I am on the highly curious /inquisitive side of life, always asking why, how, who, where, when, what?????? I guess I have annoyed people all my life with questions. I have been amazed at the lack of curiosity that many others I encounter seem to have. Are you on the curious/inquisitive/ questioning...

So it's no surprise that everyone, myself included, uses mental shortcuts. Whether it's to shield yourself from being overwhelmed by emotion or to spare your mental energy for other priorities, we conform our minds to generalization, assumptions, or apathy when we are confronted with things we don't...

I can totally relate to this, to the extent of trying to mimic my sister's eating disorder. I don't really know who I am or what I really like deep down either. The person inside is really hurting and it is painful to even acknowledge them. Sorry, I didn't mean to make it all about me. I just meant...

Many people (including myself) don't really start "living life" until at least their 30s. Many people (not including myself) eventually catch up to their peers. Or 40's. I've known quite a few like that as well. The thing is people don't realize they have time. This isn't the Middle Ages ...

This is something I've been thinking about for a long time, a few years in fact, and I'm wondering if anyone else has been through the same thing. Early in life, I struggled with intense self-esteem issues, allowing others to define who I am by allowing shaming and abuse to shape my personality. Thi...

Honestly, I'd like to see some research on this sort of thing but I'm not sure where to start. In terms of bullying "statistics" I'm not sure if we can get to the truth of the matter, let alone get some real numbers on NT vs AS/ASD bullying in general.
