Hi again... a quick update. I may finally be beating this thing. It's been months with one false hope after another, so I won't declare victory yet. But there may be real hope, for a change. I've been asymptomatic for nearly a whole day... Yes it has been hell. And the early arrival of cold damp wea...

Oh jeez guys. I don't know what to say. Flattered by the kind words, sorry they seemed necessary in the circumstances. Hugs to all of you - nice, sanitized hugs that won't make you catch what I have. Here's the news: I am very very sick, and it's taken months and visits to multiple different doctors...

Hi, I took the survey and I don't need a card, but thank you for the offer! You may have had slow pickup because the site was locking out some users as spammers for a few days. (It seems to dislike updates to both Firefox and Windows; I always have trouble after either happens.) I hope you get a goo...

I have sad news to share on behalf of kraftiekortie. Kortie's father passed away this afternoon in Chicago, following a two month illness and rehabilitative treatment. He is flying to Chicago tonight New York time, to be with his brother and step-mother. I didn't know where else to post this news, ...

I know you don't need permission, but I think sometimes it helps. Sly - I'm about the right age to be your granny or great aunt, and as I said before I'm of the lib...

This is for Kura: may Minerva watch over you as you work! (though perhaps not *quite* this closely!)

Age 18. Went off to college. Lived there. Made arrangements each summer to stay there as long as possible. Headed off to grad school ASAP after graduation. Never came back except to visit. Yeah, rented all my life. It can be obnoxious but I got lucky with having truly excellent maintenance engineers...

thank you for such a clear perspective on this. and ya, when i lead, i do not let it happen. but i cant lead every time. and also, sometimes i fail. because i have limits. which i then need to be reminded of, because i'd crucify myself for every mishap. and yes, most toxicity comes from very few pe...

Yes. There are several reasons this happens - and they don't have much to do with who we are, as people. I've watched people-in-groups for 50+ years and I've noticed some things: 1. people-in-groups tend to be easily led by anyone in the group who is bossy enough - they don't have to be charismatic,...

Posting silly "First-World Problems" to give people something to laugh about is seen by some as personal attacks. It's all about the context, Fnord. It's just insensitive to do that on *this* thread when people are posting about their loved ones dying, is all. I like snark, but not where ...
