I guess my advice would be not to allow his aspergers/autism to excuse him behaving like a jerk. Some of the behaviour you have described, such as telling you how you should dress, is controlling, and should not be tolerated. If the relationship is to continue you need to be firm with him that you h...

Hm.
Some interesting graphs in here.
A good reminder that correlation does not equal causation, I guess.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but I've seen a few studies which are linking herbicides or pesticides with autism, specifically the more severe (presumably non-hereditary) types. I think this is an area to watch.

Where do you live, that has plantations with hundreds of slaves???

Well, working from home didn't work for me. Not enough self-discipline, I'd let myself get distracted into doing things I wanted to do instead of the work. Or sometimes the opposite - working in the evenings and weekends because of work/home stuff all getting mixed up. Am much better focussed now I'...

What I've noticed is that people around the world are surprisingly similar, when you get past the superficial cultural veneer. So for example, your average 3rd world immigrant would definitely seem different at first, in speech and dress for example - but once they'd learnt the language and cultural...

Having a brain scan test seems like a step forward though, doesn't it?
If it helps avoid the subjectivity of the current diagnostic tests?

Those are wise words from Kraftie. Even if Aspergers is making your son see politics as black and white, with only one 'right' answer, he should know not to be disrespectful of others during discussions. Autism can make it hard to see others' viewpoints sometimes, but that doesn't mean we can't lear...

Maybe you could try and explain to him exactly what you explained to us in your post. Ultimately he is an adult, even if autistic, and if he decides he would rather hold to his political views even if it means alienating his family and losing financial support, maybe that is his decision to make. As...

I agree, there's not much information out there.
But perhaps it is not a condition itself so much as a symptom of certain conditions?
Anyway, I would be interested to know how it affects you.

I am wondering something similar. If it would help, Joe90, I believe you could seek a second opinion on your autism/aspergers diagnosis. Sometimes different practitioners will form a different view on whether someone is on the spectrum, so it need not be a weight holding you down if the label upsets...

Yes, I don't think we can "win" against the coronavirus, at some point we're just going to have to let it run its course. But mass vaccination will help keep things to a manageable level. Noting that Israel actually only has about 60% of the population fully vaccinated with two jabs, so th...

Gah, more misinformation. The current lockdown is not about herd immunity either, no more than it's about elimination. What it's about is getting enough people vaccinated so that when we do go out of lockdown and delta sweeps through the population, as it is going to do, far fewer people are going t...
