Yes, the evidence points to genuine, large increase in autism rates, which cannot be fully explained by changes in diagnostic criteria or diagnostic substitution. It is frustrating that the increase tends to be brushed off as due to greater awareness, without research backing that up. There seems to...

The Correlation Between Screen Time and the Probability of Developing Autism Spectrum Disorder It's only a correlation, they showed that autistic kids spend longer watching screens (average 3.6 hrs a day instead of 3 hrs per day) rather than screentime causing autism. There was discussion of screen...

I thought you already had a wife and your whole life going on and all that, like how does teenage/early 20's women not wanting to engage in relationships as one way to protest violations against their body affect you negatively? LIke why ...

Yes, and I have the feeling that epigenetics will tell us a lot more about autism than genetic studies have done. Genetic studies have shown us that there are many hundreds of genes which create a polygenic risk - but genetic risk alone does not cause autism. There have to be some environmental fact...

I had no idea for a long time. Completely oblivious. Until eventually my traits started causing so much difficulties for me and my family that I swore to change my behaviour and act like a 'normal' person and discovered... I couldn't. Just wasn't wired for it. I developed mental health difficulties ...

I would love to do more travelling and see interesting places.
But can't really do it due to marginal health and limited free time and funds.
I get to travel a bit as part of my work which is nice but only around north Queensland region where I live.

Yeah I've never been able to maintain friendships.
When I was younger I would try harder but it didn't really work so now I'm less inclined to bother.

I suppose there might be a little less stigma towards autism than bipolar.

So... autistic people have to stop being special snowflakes and work on ourselves so we can get an education and a job.
Or, I guess we could just remove ourselves from the gene pool.
It's not like politicians would have to clear up the mess.

Because they can't get a job anywhere else.

Honestly, if you need a job and you're not having any luck, why not? I can think of worse activities than going through body-worn camera footage.

I'd heard it was 54 - which freaked me out a bit because of approaching that myself - and all the health difficulties I seem to be having. So 58 seems like a marginal improvement! I wonder if we might have greater risk of certain health issues due to autism? because I'm having health issues that my ...

The way they are dividing up autism into subtypes is a bit like dividing people up according to whether they like ham or cheese. One subtype of humanity enjoys both ham and cheese, one subtype leans towards ham, one leans towards cheese, and a smaller group hates both. So yeah... I guess we could do...
