I was a pretty stereotypical “little professor” actually. I had advanced vocabulary and letter/number synesthesia where I would do fast mathematical computations in my head. I would memorize movies and TV shows without putting in any effort. I had several interests that I cycled through, I think mai...

Our relationship was…..interesting. I was close to him when younger but he was an alcoholic that got worse with age. My parents ended up splitting. The “fun times” I remember was him taking me to bars as a toddler. As awful as it sounds I remember it as fun because I didn’t know any better. I rememb...

I’ve heard this is actually quite common. I remember watching a video from a famous author on autism saying that women with AS are more likely to end up with an AS male than a neurotypical, and also more likely to pair with ADHD and Bipolar! It may work well because they may both share some ND trait...

Don't understand where any connections to the two major US political parties comes in. I don’t know where you’re from but it’s very much politicized in the US. I’m not speaking for everyone in either party, but there is a subset of democrats who will criticize anyone who questions the mainstream me...

High Rates of COVID Vaccination Among Adults With Autism Adults with autism have high rates of COVID-19 vaccine acceptance and shots, a new study shows. That's good news, because autistic adults have multiple risk factors for COVID-19 infection and for more severe illness if they contract the disea...

I never died my hair until my 20s and have only ever done highlights. I had natural blonde highlights as a child which faded as I got older and ended up with a medium/dark brown color with a bit of a mousy cast. I got bored with this so now I do highlights in either caramel or auburn.

I don’t know how old you are but it could be peri menopause or a hormone imbalance like PCOS. Did you change your diet recently? I did a water fast for a few days once and ended up skipping my period for a month. Do you have a history of anorexia?

You actually bring up an interesting topic which I wonder about myself. I had a bad childhood growing up. My mother was the classic toxic narcissistic mother and my father was an alcoholic. My parents divorced when I was 12. As much as I wanted my Dad out of the picture at that point, things actuall...

I remember taking a spelling test in first grade where the teacher told us to put our heading in the upper left corner. I didn’t know what a heading was so I interpreted this literally and drew a self portrait. My teacher was very confused when I handed it in :)

I’m not LGBTQ but there is a known link between autism and this community, with a disproportionate number of autistics identifying as gay, trans, non-binary etc. I don’t know the exact stats though.

ADHD is primarily a disorder of executive function, which covers a lot of areas: attention regulation, impulse control, organization, management of emotions and several others. Most of these areas probably fall under the area of general “adulting” which a lot of ADHDers have trouble with. ASD is mor...

I’ve been doing a lot of research lately after my son’s ASD diagnosis and suspecting for years that I’m Aspie as well. Before I even looked into autism, I suspected I may have a connective tissue disorder of some sort, such as EDS. Marfan syndrome doesn’t fit because I’m of average build. Here are m...

My brother is NT, but my dad is autistic. I would like to question the assumption that if your second child is autistic that would be a bad thing, though. This may come across as ableist but it CAN be bad depending on the type of autism. I don’t care about a child having Aspergers. But there are fa...

My daughter was diagnosed with moderate autism at 5 and she presents as mild/moderate as a teenager. Just underlining the importance of speech therapy. It's been the only intervention which has been worth the money. Your son might be too old for ABA and if you do introduce that its better either yo...

because I strongly believe I’m on the spectrum and was just never identified. As others have said it looks like your son has a good future. Have you thought about a formal diagnosis for yourself? I’m a bit hesitant to go this route for a few reasons. First, I hear it’s very expensive. Secondly, a l...

I posted earlier regarding my son who was just diagnosed with mild to moderate ASD. I’ve been researching recurrence rates in siblings and they say it’s about 20% per sibling. I’m a bit worried because I’m currently 6-7 months pregnant with another boy (higher ASD risk) and at the time I became preg...
