I've been bulimic since I was 14 (I'm now 45), but because of huge anxiety issues about going to see doctors I've never been officially diagnosed. I feel I have it under control a lot of the time now, but still really struggle when I'm stressed or eat too much (or the 'wrong') food. I've seen a few ...

We do use beans in cooking, but also things like soya mince for chilli, bolognese and cottage pie. Tinned beans are useful to have in the cupboard because you can add them to salads, pasta, chilli, etc. My partner uses mushrooms a lot in pasta and curries, and we use meat substitutes like 'fake chic...

My partner and I have been vegan for 5 years and were vegetarian for 9 years before that. We eat quite a lot of vegan substitute foods (like 'fake' burgers, cheese, etc.), because I don't really cook and my partner doesn't always have time to make meals 'from scratch'. I think it really helps not to...

I'm non-binary. I spent most of my life forcing myself to conform to female gender expectations (often without much success), but have finally allowed myself to accept that I don't fit into either binary gender category. I just don't feel like I'm a man or a woman.

I hate washing my hair as I have a big problem with the feel of water splashing on my face, arms and neck, plus I tend to forget to do it anyway even when I add it to my calendar.

HighLlama, I have light sensitivity and also get bad headaches and eye pain from using a computer, reading text on paper, etc. After struggling for decades with this, someone suggested it could be due to Irlen Syndrome, so I had a go at some online self-tests which seemed to indicate that it could b...

I stole a packet of currant buns when I was a teenager, because my 'friend' told me to. The buns were sitting in a container outside a shop at about 6am, having just been delivered. Unfortunately, there was a policeman driving past at the time and we ended up being taken to the police station, havin...

When my son was very young I used to take him to playgroup. I would say hello to the other parents if they spoke to me, but then mostly sit apart from them or sometimes join in with the children playing so I could avoid talking to the adults. I worked as a part-time teaching assistant at my son's pr...

I'm in Leicestershire and was referred by my GP about 3 months ago. I had an initial first appointment with a psychiatrist just over a month ago, which I went to with my husband. The psychiatrist spoke to us separately, then together. I was sent home with ASQ and RAADS-R forms to complete, plus a lo...

I'm right handed and have a lot of trouble telling left from right. I'm always getting them mixed up. I'm pretty much banned from giving people directions while they're driving, because I've sent them the wrong way too many times.

I've always held my thumbs in my fists, especially when I'm feeling stressed/upset or overwhelmed (the more I'm struggling with things, the harder I squeeze them). I didn't have any language delay as far as I'm aware.

You have such lovely dogs! These are my two old men, Fudge and Finlay. Finlay (the grey one) is a soft cuddle-bunny who is very tuned-in to how I feel. Fudge, on the other hand, just wants to spend all his time eating and sleeping. http://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1cE6k-Tu_S9hQzV_6FltzF...

I am having the same problem with trying to post a reply to a thread in the General Discussion section. Whenever I click on 'Submit', it shows a white page with all the text displayed in a continuous line. I have also tried posting in different browsers. It's very frustrating!

So basically, Treating Autism take the view that ASD is (or should be) treatable and want to cure and/or prevent it. Do they also believe that vaccination causes ASD?! They are touting a very reductionist medical model which I personally think is extremely unhelpful and potentially damaging. Obvious...
