It's a terrible sound. Piercing. Yes! Thank you! :) It's the second worst possible outcome of a truck backing up. Someone getting squished would of course be worse. Nobody is suggesting people should be squished. The blog writer suggested that with modern technology, there might be more effective m...

Having been woken up by a truck backing up and going "beep beep beep," I Googled the issue and I found this: https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/living-next-to-a-construction-site-for-over-a-year-beep-beep-beep-beep.101931/ It's from some discussion site for pilots, from 2017...

I can't tell you how to feel, but no, I don't think anyone should feel bad about where they were born. Nor do I feel bad for being born in America. This idea that a person's mere existence automatically makes them responsible for all of the "bad" things, yet none of the "good" th...

Who gets elected has a profound effect on the lives of millions of people. This is indisputable, regardless of the imperfections that all candidates will have. Some are awful and others are much less awful, and that's quite plain. Voting is our responsibility toward our fellow citizens. It's lettin...

Also a fair point. I guess I would expect a city where both tourists and hurricanes are so commonplace to have additional resources on hand at stores and gas stations and such, but I guess some things are just inevitably finite.

^ That's a valid point. As I understand it, Disney World, being in Central Florida, typically isn't hit as hard as the coast and remains open during most hurricanes. Milton is expected to be an especially bad one. And there are also tons of comments trying to dissuade tourists from coming for that r...

I'm on a lot of Walt Disney World discussion groups where a major current topic is Hurricane Milton, which is expected to hit the Orlando area around Wednesday. A very common comment is that people should cancel their Disney World vacations for this time, because if they go, they'll be taking resour...

Well we got 3 more seasons coming, to explore their view of Heaven and Hell and morality here Adam is.... a narcissistic type of personality. This comes from me having spent the last 6 months doing roleplay on tumblr. I don't RP Adam, but I've written with a couple people who've explored his charac...

Possibly a controversial take from me: Things like this are why I despise the concept of "privilege." Whatever the original intentions, it's just become the latest liscense to make broad assumptions based on limited info (what was formerly known as "prejudice") and bully people. ...

I really wanted to like this show. I'm a furry, I like musical theater, I like irreverent humor, I'm a fan of VivziePop's earlier work like her YouTube videos and her webcomic "Zoophobia." It seems like this should be right up my alley. To be fair, I only watched the pilot (which is canon...

What's interesting to me that I never see anyone mention is that the people who criticize Hollywood for making poor quality movies and the people who criticize Hollywood for stereotyping and lack of diversity used to be on the same side -- and sometimes were the same people. Maybe not always, but th...

^ That's all well laid out, but it doesn't surprise me that "Star Wars" and "Harry Potter" have similarities. They're both modern updates on the classic hero's journey. And who did the filmmakers of "Harry Potter" turn to for the musical score? John Williams. They knew ...

"Murder by Death" (1976) is a comedy. It's a spoof of the mystery genre written by comedy writer Neil Simon.
