I have made Composting a special interest for years. No need for electricity, anybody can learn how to compost in small or large quantities. When done correctly there is no smell, no bugs, almost no mess. Easy Peasy! Compost is the cycle of life complete from living matter to soil and back again, ov... |

Congratulations and welcome. Diagnosed at 68 and it has made a tremendous difference in all aspects of my life. Suddenly so much of the past makes sense. It is a lot to sort! Take your time and learn all you can about your own brand of autism, how it affects you, how you can adjust things in your li... |

some people don't understand that they can't train a fish to climb a tree either. Ignorance abounds, unless they insist on you performing math for them , it might be a moot point. People insist that I can learn "how to" do many things that my sensory processing differences will not let me ... |

We built the friendships on shared activities surrounding the interests and some of the friendships have been life long, surviving long distance moves . I have one friend I have not seen in years, yet we email each othe... |

it could be both! Autistic people tend to experience more trauma than NT, perhaps because our neurology does not process experiences the same as Neurotypical (there are lots of studies confirming the trauma statistics). So trauma and autism tend to "cross over" and symptoms mix. 20 years a... |

just like that in school, work, groups such as at church, etc or volunteer organizations I worked for, right up until I found out about my being autistic in my late 60s. "social struggles" must be present in order for us to obtain diagnosis as autistic. |

yes, see shutdown/associated with meltdown and sensory overwhelm and also "freeze" as a response to anxiety and overwhelm (based on trauma) You don't have to be experiencing trauma at the moment to "freeze" in response to overload or overwhelm either emotional or physical/sensory. |

welcome! you are among others who understand. Rely on us for input and empathy, insights and suggestions. One of the best things about getting my diagnosis 4 years ago was realizing I was not alone! There are others "out there" who do understand! What a relief! |
