40 didn't seem like a big deal to me, but now I'm about to turn 45 and in the downhill straight to 50 I'm starting to get the fear. It isn't the age that bothers me so much, its the fact that I'm running out of time to have the life that I wanted to have. And I'm losing faith that I'm capable of mak... |

There was a year, i think it was 2001, where it rained every day somewhere in England from 1st Jan to 30th April. It was oppressive. This year feels like that again. I don't mind rain, generally, but when the ground gets saturated and it doesn't get time to drain before the next downpour, it's just ... |

If i add up the amount of money I've paid out to landlords since i left home - that's what i call embarrassing. If i could have borrowed that money at the point i left home, i could have bought a very decent house and more or less paid it off by now. I don't judge anyone for staying at home, if you ... |

Me neither, though surely they will at least be marginally better than the Tory clowns? I hope so anyway. I think Labour could have exactly the same political platform that the Conservatives have now just without the sense of entitlement and culture war bs and even that would be a worthwhile improv... |

It's my strong opinion that if you have a strong opinion you should spend some time thinking about why you have that opinion, how you came to hold it and whether you can defend it logically and morally and, if necessary, factually. Preferably before you voice it. |

Yup. If they had any decency left they'd get out of the way now and let us move on. Some hope. Personally, I'm not that excited about the incoming Labour government either but I'm hoping that just the change of management will be enough to relieve some of the sense of ennui that seems to be cripplin... |

I don't like any beans. I find the texture of beans utterly offensive. I hate butter beans. But no more than any other type of bean. Bean. |

Why do supermarkets order so many Orange Twirl Easter eggs? No one likes them. There's always loads left when all the other eggs have been sold. Why don't they order more of the ones people like? |

Is that like a dumb waiter Not really. It's a type of elevator that goes around constantly. One side goes up the other goes down, but it's just a continuous loop of compartments travelling around. If you stay in it you'll go up over the top and come down the other side. They never stop moving so yo... |

Paternoster elevators. Every so often i get a bit obsessed with them. I think there are only two left working in the UK. I deeply feel the need to have a go on one before they're gone forever. |

I tend to think in words but i wonder what my thoughts would have been like if i didn't have a language. How would i think about things without the words to describe them? Especially abstract concepts. Then I wonder whether the language you learn determines the thoughts that are possible? Are there ... |
