I'm perhaps being too sceptical about Sue Gray as she may well conduct the investigation without any bias but ultimately the report of her findings has to be signed off by Boris Johnson as Prime Minister, which goes against conflict of interest considerations. He's already planning to sack some of hi...

The unvaccinated should be tolerated. I don't believe in pressuring anyone to put something in their body they don't want to. Misinformation and propaganda borne from an anti-vax ideology however ought not be tolerated and should be combatted with scientific evidence at every opportunity.

Two things. Firstly, I just sat down and did an hour's work in an actual hour. Not six hours like it would normally take me. Given my productivity lately, that's an epic win. Secondly, a local bird rescue charity has approved us for rehoming a parrot. I've always wanted to live with a parrot. We're ...

Got an Oculus Quest 2 and am slightly obsessed with Eleven table tennis. I mean, it's ping pong. But it's super addictive.

I'll miss your contributions HoH and I'm very sorry the positive aspects of WP haven't been enough to outweigh the negative. I hope you return one day, it's important that people who struggle with diversity continue to be exposed to it, otherwise they will never come to accept it. I appreciate that'...

Matrix Resurrections which was rubbish.

Don't look up which was well intentioned but I don't think succeeded either as satire or as a wake up call.

Really want to see Licorice Pizza but don't want to go to a cinema ( not that any near me are showing it anyway) so hoping it moves to streaming soon...

General location would help with specific IDs. Your first and third IDs look good to me. I'd need to see a fertile surface/underside shot for the second, but it doesn't feel like T. versicolor to me. T. versicolor typically has concentric fuzzy rings and a lot more variation in color. Your third ph...

^ Parasols are close to Amanitas. I’ve never been willing to try them. So beautiful. Often in Fairy Rings. Yes, but they get bigger than any Amanita that I'm aware of so I always feel pretty confident about eating them. And they're delicious. I've seen them with 25-30cm diameter caps - when you get...

I wouldn't call myself a mycologist - I've never gone full obsessive about fungi but I've been fascinated by them for years. I like to photograph them if I see them on my walks and identify them from my books. I used to take spore prints too. I will forage for the ones I know are safe and tasty like...

Oh me too. But I was more affected by Fiver's visions, the field of blood and the bit where Captain Holly shows up in the ditch and describes the destruction of the Warren. The music in those sections is absolute nightmare fodder. In the UK this film somehow got a U certificate - appropriate for all...

I agree, it's one I return to over and over. I also think it's one of the greatest examples of a constructed mythology - I mean the rabbits own mythology of Frith and the black rabbit of Inle and all the stories around them and el-ehrairah. It's a really hard thing to pull off in fiction but all tha...

These aren't, although I do have my own photos of all the ones I've posted so far - they're just not online anywhere and I'm too lazy to upload them :D I used to photograph fungi a lot. They fascinate me. I'm much more familiar with the common names - I've had to look up the Latin ones for some of t...
