It is something to consider, the chance of having a lower functioning autistic child. It also depends on whether you really want them or not, and how are you at functioning and going through life? Are you relatively emotionally stable, able to handle things easily or is it harder for you? For myself...

I am about your age, and I too have run into some of the same difficulties trying to get a diagnosis as an adult. It is for sure harder to get than as a child. If you are autistic (you have the symptoms, have the behaviors, and have the struggles), then you are whether you get that label officially ...

Yeah I still haven't "grown up" in ways, heck I still sleep with stuffed animals that I treat like they are alive. Also tend to like interests that wouldn't be considered typical adult, but more of someone younger.

Yeah I go through bouts of feeling like you do, its been pretty rough for the past several years (not just due to covid tho). I just want to say I understand, and am sorry you are going through it. I'm not the greatest communicator either, and I understand the feeling hopeless and down from struggli...

Being "too careful" not to piss other people off... Can lead to dehumanizing thoughts. In which one isn't allowed to be human -- to be angry, to act on indignation, to have flaws, to have and accept limits , to have needs or feelings because it gets in the way of other people and self-who...

Yeah I've inadvertently peeved people off and not realized what was going on or why. In my latest mishap I went nearly a week thinking a coworker was unjustly mad at me, come to find out they thought I was mad at them! Lol, man it gets real confusing. I often ask my husband to help know what to say ...

Very much so! I have a coworker who often talks at me rather than to me, and on and on about things that to me are just nothing I want to have a conversation about, but it is at work so I try to be sort of polite sometimes. Honestly other times I do ignore because it would be too much. I think it is...

Yeah I have trouble with this too. It takes a lot of practice, and learning how to say things. For instance, I learned that you don't have to give a detailed reason why, just say something like "I am busy" if someone wants you to do something and you don't want to. It is hard though becaus...

Yeah this thread is hard to read, because getting a diagnosis as a child when clearly showing signs of autism would have probably helped a lot, and maybe I wouldn't have had to suffer so much and end up suicidal in my late teens/early 20s. I hate that so many females have had to suffer. It is no won...

Motorcycles are not "designed to be loud." The owners choose to equip them that way. Even office workers used to show a clear preference for noisier typewriters - for themselves. Things like vacuum cleaners and fans could also be much quieter, but they would be bigger and/or more expensiv...

Yeah I understand metaphors if it has been previously explained. Also can tend to tell what one is.

I also like analogies (I think that is what it is called) when learning something new, like when my husband used an analogy of cars on a highway to explain about bandwidth.

I am about half way through it. The first part was kind of confusing, but I think I got some of the jist of it. The second half is getting interesting with relationships and why people act the way they do and say what they do in groups and around other people, and how it is a pecking order... Where...

I will have to check out that book, thanks for the suggestion. Anything to help decode and make it easier! It's pretty hard to read and decipher but if you can pick out the main points, it makes sense. I just bought the kindle version of it, when I get a chance I will have to read it! I shall enjoy...
