| I am about your age, and I too have run into some of the same difficulties trying to get a diagnosis as an adult. It is for sure harder to get than as a child. If you are autistic (you have the symptoms, have the behaviors, and have the struggles), then you are whether you get that label officially ... |

| Yes I was born at least 3 months early. Had a rough go for awhile till I got out of the NICU (there for 3 months). |

| Yeah I still haven't "grown up" in ways, heck I still sleep with stuffed animals that I treat like they are alive. Also tend to like interests that wouldn't be considered typical adult, but more of someone younger. |

| Being "too careful" not to piss other people off... Can lead to dehumanizing thoughts. In which one isn't allowed to be human -- to be angry, to act on indignation, to have flaws, to have and accept limits , to have needs or feelings because it gets in the way of other people and self-who... |

| Yeah this thread is hard to read, because getting a diagnosis as a child when clearly showing signs of autism would have probably helped a lot, and maybe I wouldn't have had to suffer so much and end up suicidal in my late teens/early 20s. Yeah I understand metaphors if it has been previously explained. Also can tend to tell what one is.
I also like analogies (I think that is what it is called) when learning something new, like when my husband used an analogy of cars on a highway to explain about bandwidth. |
