I’m 52 and just diagnosed a month ago. I learned over the years, actually with the help of OCD podcasts, to not, or stop engaging with repetitive thoughts. It’s something that takes practice. Especially when you have been doing it your whole life like me.

Finally. I'm 52 years old and I have been struggling my whole life. I am glad I had all the right circumstances occur for me to be mostly functional in life and get to this point. On the test that measures the degree of masking a person does, I scored very highly. That's definitely been what's got m...

So, when I'm stressed I'm always worried people are talking about me especially at work. I talked to my therapist today and she said the paranoia are intrusive thoughts that come because I'm in a negative space and my imagination is messing me and I need to tell myself a different story when that h...

I am 50 and have been undiagnosed my whole life and have only recently come to terms with the fact that I’m autistic. I have problems with regulation and masking and poor communications. I am on federal disability because I had cancer that was supposed to kill me but didn’t, but they gave me permane...

I am frustrated all the time; it’s practically a career. I sometimes have to take between 2-8 hours of meditating and seclusion to avoid a complete meltdown. My communication with my wife is poor I have realized and that is a lot of my problem. It’s nothing that she’s done it’s just because of my po...

This just seems like nonsense. Why would you want to do this? It would make autistic people seem annoying if anything! Also, I really don’t want to draw attention to myself, ever! I hope that you are aware that you are responding to posts made eight years ago. Yup. I am aware Just wanted to make cl...

I Am a runner. I like to run the same ways over and over. Some of it is because I can directly compare the times to see how I’m improving over time but some of it is comforting as well. There’ll be days when I’ll think about running differently and I start getting anxious and I have to tell myself t...

I have a bedtime/sleep routine that allows for time to fall asleep plus 8 hours. It takes time, but I fall asleep fairly quickly now. I need darkness, quiet (some people need white-noise). I generally listen to about 20 minutes of audio (the same 3 tracks) I'm so familiar with it that it lulls me t...

Oh man. All the time. I will have like a short practice conversation in my head but just keep repeating it over and over. It really serves to overstimulate me mentally and if I can’t get hold of it I will have insomnia and my mental state will just completely deteriorate.

All my life I’ve had trouble getting to sleep because my brain just would not turn off. Once I knew I was autistic it made sense that I would get chronically overstimulated during the day and just never take the time to try and wind things down. I starting to get the hang of it but there can still b...

Not sure what to make of this and maybe I’m just being paranoid. My wife seems to expect me to act much differently than she acts towards me. She is on a business trip now and barely communicates with me. However I know if the roles were reversed she would be expecting more of me then just three tex...

Yes. Always. My mother in law drones on and on never letting you speak. And if you do get to say something she doesn’t even listen and just goes back to rehashing stories she’s already told me ten times
