Is it right to put anyone on a diet without telling them? These people put the people that live here on a diet, they are not overweight. They give us small meals, too small a meal for dinner. TBH, the serving sizes in the US are typically far, far larger than what are necessary, or safe. Without be... |

This article was one of the few I could find that actually questioned person-first - most of the others were by staunch person-first advocates: https://www.autismparentingmagazine.com/autism-language-person-first/ I was surprised to see that parents prefer person-first. One reason seems to be their... |

I prefer to say I'm autistic rather than I have autism, mainly because it's less clunky. I like to be economical in my communication. And it seems more appropriate, since autism is not a disease. Yes, person-first is often cumbersome, and I've already got enough trouble with communicating in a succ... |

I think of the Bible as a collection of books or maybe even as a miniature library. There’s horrifying passages in some parts while others are quite nice, even poetic. There’s just a little bit of everything in there. Of course, even specific books were written by various writers. The book of Genes... |

I think the thing that folks don't really understand is, that I was perfectly capable of keeping up with the conceptual bits of high school physics on my own at age 8, but at age 44, I am still completely baffled as to how anybody knows when they're thirsty or how to set up a set of tasks and actua... |

Something that ND advocates say that makes little moral sense. These things are disadvantages in life like lack of eye contact, communication and socialisation. Humans that lack these things will normally be poorer in multiple ways, more frustrated and have more mental health issues. Whether the th... |

If that kind of thinking is becoming normalized, then I am scared for mankind. Which kind of thinking? The thinking that the Bible should be abolished. When people want to criticize and speak against it, that's one thing, but don't force or make laws persecuting others that read it (whether they ar... |

. I don't think it's really about early intervention in a developmental sense, and more about making said kid into indistinguishable from their NT peers agenda. However, by law in the US, gifted students have a legal right to special education just like those that are disabled to. That sounds like a contradiction in terms, special education is solely reserved for those cognitively impaired in some way. I watched a movie once of a school for super intellige... |

Can someone explain to me why so many people seem to be against early intervention? I benefited from speech therapy as well as extra assistance in school. If I didn't receive a diagnosis early on, I wouldn't have received either of those things. The only potential downsides to it are fears that it ... |

There's really very little point in doing so, even if we ignore the practical issues in doing so. The religion is clearly in decline in the US, and as other countries develop further, there's really only so long that you can keep people scared of not doing whatever their interpretation of it's conte... |

Is this phenomenon just non-verbal autistic children being more perceptive than people expect? I'm not sure that it is. I think it's probably more obvious. I use a lot of mentalism tricks to mask. I just need an extra tick to properly respond. I think it's just a side effect of misusing the unconsc... |

Well i don't know where you live but in the UK, as far as I'm aware there is no early intervention whatsoever for a child diagnosed, despite news media claiming the importance of it. It just opens the door to welfare, special schools and maybe ADHD meds if needed that's about it. In the US there`s ... |
