So, if I understand correctly "Dr." David Rowland isn't a real doctor and his claims shouldn't be considered without a high degree of skepticism? Absolutely. And frankly I'm disappointed that there is a conversation going on in this thread at all. The classic way to enable bogus research ...

I have obsession about the fear that I have not a pervasive developmental disorder or autism despite being diagnosed with Asperger syndrome when I was about 17 years old. PDD diagnosis benefitted me a lot! Especially in the area of financial benefits. I have social pension, care allowance, pretty s...

Using the term "leftist" pretty much saps any actual standing one might have. There is no such thing as leftism and as such no leftists. As far as the topic goes, the key word here is "fictional." There's all sorts of fictional things that people like that they wouldn't care for...

Using the term "leftist" pretty much saps any actual standing one might have. There is no such thing as leftism and as such no leftists. Not sure what you mean by this. "Leftists" just describes anyone who ascribes to left-wing politics. "Leftism" is a vague term that ...

Why is it misogyny in action? Can't it happen in reverse with sociopathic female wannabes? I've come across many women who seem to fake it to cover their eccentricities. Sorry if this is a derail to the topic. Well, sociopathy (and Cluster B disorders in general) is significantly more common in men...

The world has experienced many solar eclipses, they're a natural phenomenon. Why would the eclipse on April 8 be any different? Oh I'm sorry. I'm using logic, which the foil heads don't have. Because that one was going to be the one that marked the end of the world. Sort of like how comet Hale-Bopp...

I don't want to get too political (this isn't P&P after all), but I suspect that the wave of new diagnoses in the 80's and 90's was brought on by market pressures, to feed a burgeoning "troubled teen industry". Incidentally, the autism "epidemic" seems to be localized entire...

Personally I think that the increase in diagnosis frequency, is due to better screening methods and a broadening of who might be considered autistic, now, versus say, a couple of decades ago and beyond. I would say when incidences of clinical diagnosis were a lot lower, the threshold for qualifying...

I suppose it was an inevitable path of research. I hope they succeed. But, I'm more interested in them 3D printing replacement heart parts with tissue matching the patient's. My cardiologists foresaw the surgery I eventually got, replacing a valve. They explained some of the current limitations of ...

Speaking as a recovered alcoholic, it's worth noting that any group program is going to be more cultlike than necessary for the simple reason that when one quits drinking, there's a decent chance of losing a good chunk, if not all, of their friends. It's also worth noting that it's unlikely for any ...

The thrill is gone. I have seen more than one eclipse. This one didn’t thrill me. My wife wanted to do something so we watched on NASA’s live feed. My 14 year old came home from school with the glasses so I glanced up and saw it with my own eyes. Perhaps I am just getting old and jaded. The Sun is ...

Well 5-6 years ago I talked to my GP about it and all he said was “It’s a big operation“ and “Your nose is defnintley broken“. He did not refer me to an ENT but just give me nasal drops. Talk about unsatisfactory service/help right? I take it that the nasal drops weren't at all sufficient, was ther...

Looney Tunes was actually made with an adult audience in mind to play in movie theaters. You don't have to be vulgar or excessively violent to appeal to adults. Yep, Looney Tunes were more or less the animated music videos of the day that were shown in an effort to sell records of the music. not at...
