I think he is finding out about the label at one of the most sensitive developmental ages he'll go through. I realize this is too late for you, but I believe it is a much easier diagnosis to accept at younger ages. Just FYI to other parents reading who haven't told their kids yet. Regardless, you ar...

First and foremost I find it sad that any marriage deteriorates to a place such as this. Second, I don't understand why she placed the ad in the first place. What was she hoping to gain? The answer to an abusive situation is to leave it. Hopefully the abusing party can get pushed into therapy. Her t...

It doesn't matter if I'm a left-handed woman diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, who use to believe I was an ally for others who have been seen as inferior for being different, including victims of racism. But no, I am a horrible racist because I am white, and I have no real identity other than that ...

2. Her being jewish is irrelevant. Jewish people in American self-identify as mainstream white (what else do they self-identify as?). I do hope you aren't anti-semitic? I don't consider the above to be an accurate statement, although it does vary. Self-identification. Please show me one example of ...

@sozesurf ^^^ I can feel your wistfulness and disappointment on what you wish you had, but also your love and acceptance. Have you tried giving her a script for the food and weight conversations? Think of what you would like her to say, that would help you feel supported, and then tell her that the ...

This book might be too much for a 3 year old. That's my feeling, too. At this age, it's likely to introduce race divisions, while we (I?) would like them to fade and become history. At 3yo, I think the appropriate attitude would be "we have different skin colors and we can play together"....

i am reading this all over the web plus i know family members/relatives [heavily republican] who have had wet dreams about this for decades now. it is not just imaginary. again, the anti-abortionists are using the unborn as a convenient proxy for the poor/female. the fact that they don't give a goo...

Of course it's medical. ^ Doctors swear an ethical oath. My query is pertaining to those ethics. ... These are the types of debates I'd like to see in bioethics and also in legislation. I guess I see a lot of things that laws can never adequately address, and that should not be decided by a bunch o...

and you're having my baby. I don't get this bit? I read it as a statement he believes he has a right to procreate with whoever he wants, consent be damned (although respect for current laws, which he surely believes go overboard, will, in fact, stop him). A rape threat; a statement that the women a...

. . . these people are trying to provoke a reaction, and delight in the attention. My point is that these people actually exist , and not just in places like Iran and India, but right here in America , too! Yes. It isn't always to get a reaction. Sometimes it is, but there are men who truly believe...

but teenage love and crushes is confusing for me so as a parent i just want some insight of how you deal with your teenage son first meeting girls? I can simplify this for you: teenage (and young adult) sons generally don't want unsolicited advice, feedback or input from their moms about dating or ...

I just don't. Get. It. In fact this must be the eighth wonder of the world. I've scratched my head so many times trying to work this out that I think I've given myself dandruff. It is near impossible to see oneself as others do. NTs figure it out from the reactions they get, and play certain attrib...

No parent wants to hear their 13-year-old cry "why am I here, Mum? Why did you have me?" and literally mean it (not just as a teenage rebellious technique). I am so sorry you felt that way. No parent wants their child to feel that way. It is much deeper than no parent wanting to hear it, ...

I know it wasn't aimed at me but even so, when people here say that physical attractiveness is a factor of making friends it must mean that those of us who don't have friends are ugly - whether on the spectrum or not. It hurts to have that hinted and I don't know how people can just say that. That ...
