I think there's a fine line between encouraging standing on one's own two feet and having some type of safety net. My impression is that Robison does make some assumptions kids have similar capacity to overcome obstacles like himself or temple Grandin. the reality is it works for some kids putting t...

But I acknowledge it has evolved shifting from primarily focusing on suffrage and legal equality to addressing...

Several years ago, I had a coworker whom seemed to be trying to be trying to pursue me. But I was completely turned off by her. She was a large, burley, high testosterone woman; everything about her was the exact opposite of what I find attractive in women. Thing is, I'm the flip side to what turne...

And if we do travel abroad, people will assume that we're all Trump supporters. We'd be profiled simply because of our nationality, which ironically would run afoul of hate speech laws in the countries that have them. I grew up with conservative Americans who were friends of my parents through chur...

For example the Moai statues of Easter Island https://news.artnet.com/app/news-upload/2015/05/easter-island-heads.jpg All the conventional theories assume the statue is 700 years old. this is clearly inaccurate. Geologis...

There was also a regime change in that period. The guys who were in favour of exploring and reaching out were aligned with a bloc that fell out of favour when the power structure changed. Once they fell from favour they were no longer able to direct resources towards the cause of exploration. There...

Yes, of course having more information is better than having less information for understanding what happened, but for simply proving whether it was population replacement vs. assimilation, the genetics is enough to reasonably conclude that a group of people who continued to dominate the genetic po...

That strongly suggests it was due to cultural replacement instead.

It doesn't matter if there's collective memory or not when there's other evidence that can be relied upon.

It does matter for people interested in history and how cultural replacement happened

Talking of "hello," I saw on the kids' show Blue Peter that there was a time when Britain was divided between the use of "hello" and "ahoy" when using a telephone, and that people would go around with their preferred word printed on their clothing or something, until t...

Like, think of how the English language spread across Britian, including among most native British (replacing both Latin and Brittonic languages). The locals were dealing with a societal collapse, which made it easy for the arriving English to assimilate them into their much more intact society. th...
