When people say "I laugh so hard at that joke every time" when talking about a comedy TV show, do they literally laugh so hard? Or does it just mean that they sort of laugh in their head or smile and find it funny enough to be memorable? I mean surely it's not like:- Comedian: Why did the ...

I'm happy my partner's daughter trusts me enough to leave me in charge of her 17-month-old son (my non-biological grandson) for 20 minutes while she went to the supermarket. He was such a good baby, and we both got into a preschool cartoon show on the TV. I was surprised he has a longer attention sp...

Please can someone else have this, I feel so alone with this. Retrograde cricopharyngeal dysfunction (R-CPD), also known as "no burp syndrome", is a rare condition that prevents people from burping due to a tight cricopharyngeal muscle in the throat. This muscle usually contracts and only ...

When I was a teenager I sometimes would forget to brush my hair before going out. My mum would often gasp and say "I've never known a teenage girl to ever go out without brushing her hair", and then I felt ashamed of myself like I wasn't normal. But as a teenager I really didn't give a s**...

I wish. I feel like an alien in this alcoholic country I live in. Prohibition doesn't make people stop drinking, it just turns alcohol into a "street drug". It's basically like giving a huge subsidy to organized crime. Oh yes I see. I guess I was thinking of a country that had a religion ...

My grandmother was always scared of thunderstorms and would sometimes sit in her large cupboard during a storm, where there were no windows. She didn't even have a traumatic experience with thunderstorms, she just didn't like it.

I used to have a phobia of snow, but that's a different thread.

Why does every child in my family look so much like their grandmothers, but when I and my siblings and my cousins were little none of us looked like our grandmothers, even when we look at us in old photos now? I seem to just look like my dad and his sister. In fact I look so much like my dad that I ...

They sweep their floors every Sunday at around 6pm. This time of the week always makes me anxious because it's so loud that it can be heard over white noise and earplugs. I usually have a nap on Sunday afternoons as it's like an escapism, and no matter how armed I am with earplugs and audiobooks and...

When I get flashbacks of the severe social isolation I suffered during my adolescent years and it's like the memories are laughing at me and taunting me and presently gives me depression and even anxiety. I bet the severely non-verbal autistic boy down the road had more friends than I did. That is t...

I have to get up early, which I hate, for my new job which I also hate so uh. Oh dear. Now that I'm retired, I can get up at 5AM to be the first one off the tee to play a round of golf at 7AM in the morning. You are so lucky. I'll never get the luxury of retirement, as the a**hole government thinks...

Attention-seekers on forums that the same people seem to pander to for years and don't seem to ever get 'sympathy fatigued'.

Not referring to anyone here, just another forum I was on.
