I find I struggle with short term memory, paying attention, and interpreting information. ADHD is a common comorbid with High Functioning Autism, so much so, that I'd go so far as to say it's one of the symptoms. We can hyperfocus on things that captivate us and absorb tremendous amounts of informa...

Nope. I never had any social skills, nor any particular interest in socializing. My mother tells stories of how hard she tried to put me in social situations and get me to interact with other kids and I would still go off into the corner and play by myself. In the first grade, I became quite the cla...

I can't recall a time when I thought I was normal . There just wasn't a name for what I was when I was younger. Well, other than "weird." I was painfully aware that I did not fit in anywhere I went and had no idea how to go about doing so. My parents also recognized that I was not a normal ki...

People don't "develop into" not caring, they are made that way by the treatment they receive at the hands of others.

if I tried walking in my tiptoes while flapping my hands, I'd probably fall flat on my face. I can't say I've ever heard anyone claim they did both at the same time. I've never specifically "walked" on my toes, but I do rock back and forth on my toes when I'm forced to stand in a que. I've ne...

She can talk a blue streak about...cats, dragons, nyan cat, legos... she just can't talk about her thoughts and feelings Experience has shown me repeatedly throughout life that those who do not share the same neurology cannot effectively communicate deep feelings and abstract thoughts to each other...

Sorry your dad doesn't care enough to put forth the effort to understand your disability. I know what that feels like, because when I was younger, nobody knew I had a disability, so everything they couldn't understand about me was all my fault. You need to look for a job doing something that interes...

Yes, it's a good idea to learn to drive and to have a driver's license. It gives you a degree of independence you will never get any other way.

When you get to the actual driving test however, I do not recommend that you attempt to parallel park in a station wagon.

This has nothing to do with any bullying or his autism, it's about his recording and how it violates state law on infringing the rights of other citizens by illegally recording conversations. The law is in place to protect people from entrapment and blackmail. The authorities are not singling the bo...

I'm involved sexually with a taken woman, is it considered cheating if I am single? If you are single, then semantically, she is the one doing the cheating, but you are both adulterers . Being a co-adulterer makes you equally responsible for the deception and betrayal that is taking place. Concepts...

People who gather a handful of facts and arrogantly assume they know everything are small-minded, intolerant, intellectual bigots. Every generation's scientific cosmology has eventually lo...
