Chestnuts are very popular in Italy. You can go into the woods and pick them up ff the ground in season. It's a real shame about the blight that killed off most of the chestnut trees in the US.

I do volunteering but not in paid employment My parents told me a girlfriend is out of the question unless you have a job. Are they right or not? It depends on how attractive she finds you. If she's really attracted to you, she'll let you move in with her despite being unemployed. If she's looking ...

I suppose it's true that some women might judge a man for not having a job, but it's by no means universal. It also depends on context. If someone doesn't have a job and just wants to slack off and sponge off other people, that is worse than simply being unemployed, which is something that can happe...

I couldn't find a good picture but I like the way the character Sweets (the psychologist) in Bones looks in a suit.

What a nice thread and nice idea for a thread! I am enjoying it.

I agree that violence is a much bigger issue and that it strangely seems much more tolerated as a perfectly okay part of TV shows and movies. Streaming shows that are not on TV are often exceptionally violent, so much so that I can't watch them and don't want to watch them, and find it hard to under...

I haven't said any of these things. Can you point out where you think I said them? I was addressing UD not you. Did you not say... I think the OP is effectively saying that spontaneous decisions on whether somebody is a potential intimate partner is not appropriate and that people should become fri...

So! Any other thoughts on the topic at hand? I believe once upon a time you and I used to be on the same page with our general approach and I recall I have been quite supportive of your posts historically. Interesting how things have changed. Its also interesting this thread is in love and dating, ...

Again not defending Musk, I am not sure he has ever been openly misogynistic toward women in the same way as trump. His ex-wife, performer Grimes is fairly left leaning and feminist. So it would be strange for him to have these views and marry somebody like her. You're right that he hasn't been con...

He's a scumbag for saying that abortion is killing a person. And he's being a scumbag by being coy and implying one could see either candidate as the lesser of two evils instead of pointing to the obvious choice that has at least some humanity. So...about your first point...your definition of a &qu...

What a scumbag the Pope is. Yes, he's better than a lot of other Popes have been, but that's not saying much. Exactly how is he being a "scumbag" in that press conference? He's a scumbag for saying that abortion is killing a person. And he's being a scumbag by being coy and implying one c...

There are also a few things about me, my life, my hobbies, personality, etc, that any potential partner would have to decide if it matched their path in life. I suppose one might over-simplify it as "she doesn't run away", but it's definitely more nuanced and tactful than just that. I rec...

even if you and the other person know each other for years, many if most most of us have selective blinders that, for whatever reason, obscure the rough edges of the other's personality, for way too long. there are some who are just so flawed, that they are simply insufficiently "right" f...
