64% purse.

But, then, I'm 59 years old, so that's probably pretty darn pure.

I thought it was going to be much worse than that.

Both of my sons, both of whom are autistic, have hypotonia. They both have received PT, OT, and Speech. I'm sure that the PT and OT have helped. My older son is very flexible, pretty much a contortionist, because of his low muscle tone. Hypotonia does not make you weak, as evidenced by my younger so...

I'm with o equals true and intense here. I love the sound of the rain, or any running water. I like to sit on my covered porch and watch it rain. I also enjoy being near the ocean, especially at night. Both of my sons, who are autistic, love being in the water. My younger son also loves being out in...

I grew up in the 90's. Unfortunately, by the time I came about, all the old hippies, some of whom purportedly still subscribed to the old notions of what the lifestyle meant, had become what they hated: old fogeys who hated what they didn't understand about youth and therefore tried to ban or denig...

[In my experiences growing up in N. California, the term "Hippie" was most often used by people other than those who were considered Hippies. My older cousins, and my Aunts college students who were part of that scene generally referred to themselves as "Freaks" on those rare occasions where self i...

You've got it. They are what people here call "curebies." More importantly to me, they portray autism very negatively. The videos which they have distributed to television stations and internet sources are very negative making the parents of autistic children seem suicidal or just a short step away ...

I worked at my college radio station (mostly reporting local news), back in the 60's and 70's. And, it was a great confidence booster for me. I made friends there which was a pretty unique experience, and I got to communicate with "listeners" who I couldn't see. I think that radio and college theate...

http://view.break.com/513310 I guess most people have felt like hitting something on occasion, but to actually do it and then, not stop, would be pretty rare.. This guy just keeps on going.. I wonder if this would be called an office "Meltdown"? or something much worse? I'm not saying he's on the s...

Working with computers can be ideal. If you have a tendancy to get fixated on a subject it works great because an "expert" on anything pays well. Not much interaction with others required. Computers are logical and rational. Not much requirement for degrees, etc. Just know what you are doing. What ...

Makes sense. Most colleges have their own private little world, structured in such a way that an Aspie could feel comfortable. Professors are stereotyped as being 'eccentric,' so yes, it works. I imagine that a lot of what I refer to as "Perma-Students" (people who stay in college, getting multiple...

I read that the most popular careers for Aspies are college professor and computes. I gather from you experience that you don't yet have the letters after your name for the first, but the second should be worth a shot. For the past 28 years, long before I had two autistic kids and realized that trai...

Pretty horrible and pretty familiar feeling from many years ago. No YouTube back in the mid-60's of course. But, I was beaten, slammed into lockers (I still have the scar behind my left eyebrow), pushed down stairs, had my books stolen and flushed in the toilet to ruin them, was threatened with kniv...

I find it well written and factual, despite the ever present emphasis at the end on high achieving exceptions.

I assume that the one line "not anyone is supportive" was supposed to be "not everyone is supportive" although there are days when it feels like the former. :D

it can be explained by the theory that many parents of autistic children show some autistic behavior themselves; they may have AS, or be somewhere between NT and AS or HFA. Apparently, there is some evidence for this. It could indicate that autism is genetic. When you have two kids, and they are bo...
