Peer abuse (aka bullying) is serious. It can cause Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder at it's worst. It depends on the kid. I was one of the vulnerable ones. And yes, the damage can be life-long. I took my dd out of school in first grade because the combination of emotional and physical bullying... |

Your "friend" was perpetrating an act of emotional abuse on your child and you as well. How could she possibly believe that disappointing a child is funny? How could she believe that going against your warnings was funny? Way too many emotional abusers (aka bullies) invalidate their target's outrage... |

You have all, but particularly those of you over 40, written the story of my life. My 7 yo dd has been diagnosed with PDD-NOS after a misdiagnosis of ADHD. She acts out in school much more than I ever did, but of all my children she's the most like me as a child. |

I can have stuff disappear without ever getting up from my seat. I favor the black hole explanation. Or maybe the Wee Ones. Sometimes stuff reappears in unlikely places. I'm trying to teach my dd to put stuff in specific places, so I hope she'll have an easier time of it. |

I do that all the time. It's a great way to process stuff, especially when I don't think anyone else would listen. |

She has an autism consultant looking into it, plus a whole slew of other professionals. As backwards as New Mexico can be in some areas it seems they do their darnedest for kids with special needs, including diagnosing autism spectrum disorders. At least that's state policy. So far I'm hopeful. I do... |

I'm sorry if you're ticked, but yes, she is going through the whole diagnosis thing. Absolutely. |

Lol...all the time. It's one reason why Eastern religions or mysticism in general appeal to me--the lack of duality. There aren't any easy answers and duality is an illusion. |

I'd agree that your son needs to learn the principles of give and take, but on the other hand, talking is one way to connect with others. I have a tendency sometimes to talk too much when a subject matters, but for years it's been hard to talk at all. I've been shut up and dismissed too often. That ... |

I think that some environments may exacerbate the more difficult aspie traits, while discouraging the positive aspie traits. Asperger's is a neurological difference. It's there no matter what the environment may be. The environment does greatly affect the expression of those traits. It's difficult e... |

Um...your method of protesting may be aspie, but your complaint is valid. You might want to check with the labor board. Unless laws in Florida are really different, what they're doing is illegal. In any event, if they fire you over such a thing, you can get unemployment. Do keep accurate records of ... |

About the only way I'd intervene in this case is to explain to the other kid that J needs a bit of time to veg out with his movie, it's not because he doesn't like the kid anymore. Otherwise, yeah, they'll work it out. |
