I have trouble coming to terms with losing almost anything or anybody. Apart from hoping time will do some good, which it usually does, I don't really have any strategies, except trying not to dwell on negative thoughts too much. I don't think this closure thing people talk of always exists. Sometim... |

^ Yes that's pretty much what I've read. There are some interesting criticisms of the method on the page you linked to. Apparently some research suggests there's no benefit to increasing intervals, that the absolute spacing was the only thing that had any effect. |

I've tried Anki on & off for over a decade, but I always go back to physical handmade flashcards & posters. I've found that even making the cards can be enough to cement something, especially if it takes multiple tries to make a good card (accurate, legible, etc). And I think the digital br... |

Just make sure you read this https://faqs.ankiweb.net/anki-knockoffs.html Thanks. The program I'm using isn't called AnkiApp or Anki Pro, just plain Anki, and I've seen no particular evidence of it being a fake. The version number certainly exists in the collection on uptodown.com: https://anki.en.... |

^ Thanks for the info :-) I'm using version 2.1.35. It offers me an update every time I open it, but judging by Zhighley's web pages the basic way it works is still much the same. I should try updating it just to see. I strongly suspect my concerns are mainly down to three factors: 1. The default ti... |

My son used it heavily to pass senior (4th year) biology classes in college. I don’t think he could have gotten his degree without it. I talked to my niece who was in medical school and she said she didn’t use it but a lot of her fellow medical students did. Good to know I'm not the only one using ... |

I've got some kind of habitual checking routine for that kind of thing, which mostly works. It often annoys me to fasten buttons, but I have no choice. One of the worst things is when they've made the buttonholes a bit too small and every button takes longer to sort out. I don't know how many times... |

Nicotine. I no longer need tobacco but I can't get off the gum. So that's a lot safer but I resent the high price of gum. It's true that the nicotine gum and lozenges are expensive, and probably unnecessarily, but they are still cheaper than cigarettes. The extra-strong gum is the same price as the... |

None of the above. I used to eat blackcurrant jam but not very often, so once they started selling it with reduced sugar content, it used to go mouldy over the months. Also I always consider my health before buying anything sweet, so jam soon got the boot. |

I don't consciously know of many comfort objects or places, but I think they exist. If videos count as objects, there seems no logical reason why I keep watching TV shows and movies when it's so rare that I enjoy them (they move too fast and have too many characters, and even when I can follow the p... |

Don't know if it's directly down to ASD, but I worry a lot and can't seem to rest until I know how I'm going to dig myself out of whatever the latest hole is that I'm in. I suppose it's an Aspie thing to want to tackle problems immediately and full-on until they're solved, which isn't always the bes... |

Seems odd to me that anybody takes seriously the expressed political opinions of a musician. No worse than anybody else's opinion, but no better either. Still, if it helps to keep Trump and the Republicans out of power, I won't knock it too hard.
Musk's comment is just plain bonkers. |

Yes I've always needed people in my life. It's not just the comforting feeling of having friends, though that's very important. It's also the practical need. Generally speaking humans do better in groups than alone. Mutual protection and assistance. |

The idea of the program is that it reduces the world of learning to question-and-answer flash cards and reminds you of any given answer just before you're about to forget it, which is supposedly a very efficient way to learn. It's called a "spaced repetition system." https://apps.ankiweb.n... |
