No I have little faith in face-to-face autism support groups, and I'd have to travel far out of my way to even find one. It would have to be a remarkably well-organised group oriented strongly towards finding good practical ways of making life with ASD better. It would have to be going somewhere tha... |

I never had much success in getting paid for my musical skills and services, so I had little choice but to use my science skills to bring in the money. There were aspects of science that I enjoyed a lot, but music floats my boat much better. I guess I compromised, but it was either that or live like... |

If I were to try to get money for ASD information, I'd want that information to really work, i.e. to be clearly helpful for the purpose of coping with ASD. Most of the info I've seen is very scattershot - a potentially useful crumb here and there, but I've not seen any potent practical manual for ov... |

Something seems to have changed, which began yesterday. Instead of answering my questions and ending its response with something like "If you'd like any more information about this, please let me know," ChatGPT is now sticking a question on the end, such as "would you like more detail... |

There might be a few who can make a living out of their ASD, but I think for the vast majority of us it's a non-starter. I expect the ASD "fashion" is on its way out now. There's already loads of books and videos about "my autism problems and how I try to deal with them," and a l... |

Plantagenet Palliser from the Palliser novels by Anthony Trollope. Admittedly he's extremely wealthy, which is unusual for an Aspie, but it's only hereditary wealth. He's very stiff and unromantic and obsessed with bringing in decimal currency which he'll talk about till the cows come home. He hate... |

Autism $peaks is a hate group run by NTs that demonizes and dehumanizes autistic children in order to get money from their witless parents while ignoring adults on the spectrum. There is a PSA by Autism $peaks called "I Am Autism". If you can find it on Google, it might help you to unders... |

^ I hate it when they gabble over things like that. Better to get the videos and watch those instead of depending on live television these days. |

In my experience, cats may take a while to remember their favourite humans after a long absence, but eventually the penny drops. They may seem resentful at first, but I suspect that may be just humans reading things into the situation. We had to let somebody look after our cat for a couple of months... |

I suppose you could try working from home if you can find anything suitable. Depressed people can indeed be hard to be with unless they learn to mask it very well. Not surprising. When you're depressed, everything sucks, so just expressing yourself tends to bring people down, except under special ci... |

On hearing that somebody is a leader, I always want to ask "a leader in what?" For example, Boris Johnson was a leader in getting the UK out of the EU by hook or by crook. Winston Churchill was a leader in organising the UK to resist Hitler. The janitor is a leader in getting the toilets c... |

My wallpaper is just plain reddish brown with no features at all. Features on wallpaper would just distract me and make some of the desktop shortcuts harder to see. So no people, no animals, nothing. I chose reddish brown in the faint hope that it would be less likely to keep me awake if I'd been us... |

Using only the two metrics of academic achievement and money, most here would not be shining examples of success. As has been cited even if you look closely at those two areas. Having enough money and being able to communicate with others can be a sufficient success. As Stargazer99 indicated there ... |
