Broadly speaking, I see myself as more of a self-improver than a masker, though some of what I do probably makes my ASD less conspicuous to NTs. I like to think my behavioural changes are about becoming more mature, decent, "spiritual," or whatever. For example, learning that not everybody... |

It can be measured with the kind of blood sugar monitor that they sell over the counter for diabetics, but unless you're confident that you can use the thing properly, you're probably better off talking to a doctor. In my case I'd go for the monitor because I'm familiar with blood testing and I'm ra... |

Is it because deep down they know they couldn't cope in that situation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fds_2qH9sBQ but dahm that's catchy song I suspect it's satire: "The song is Joe Walsh parodying how many rock stars of his time lived their lives." https://genius.com/Joe-walsh-lifes-bee... |

Leicester's demographics are about 24% Muslim, which often seems like an underestimate to me because in my district and in the town centre it looks more than double that judging by appearances, but no doubt the areas I frequent aren't representative of the whole city, and I'm probably not good at t... |

But by the same token, ignorance can do good as well as harm. I would fear for my elderly father-in-law's peace of mind if he began to doubt his conviction that he's going to Heaven to meet his wife when he dies. But objectively, there may be no Heaven. I think that perspective is going to ch... |

I can relate to your problems and you have my utmost sympathy. My wife is also sensitive to lots of foods, and certain types of mould (which are ubiquitous in these parts) have threatened her life. You wouldn't believe the trouble and expense - the way things are going, I fear we'll be exhausted and... |

I drink a large volume of coffee until early afternoon and then a large volume of tea - usually Earl Grey. Never have milk or sugar in either. Do I have all bases covered on the hot beverage front then? :D I can see how avoiding the sugar might help, but I hope milk is safe. Though in my case I use... |

a 19th and 20th century idea held by liberals that evil is caused by ignorance and that curing ignorance cures evil. I can relate to that. "They know not what they do," as a certain teacher said when they nailed him to a cross. Driving along, we see a car in front of us do something wacky... |

I was going to post to congratulate whoever does the tech stuff for fixing the SQL error and stopping the pages from freezing, but CloudCrap just tried to eat a long post I'd written. I've been free of CloudCrap's nonsense for so long that I was getting careless and not always copying my post before... |

Apparently you can also get sick from working too hard in righteous spiritual battle: For he risked his life for the work of Christ, and he was at the point of death while trying to do for me the things you couldn’t do because you were far away.(Philippians 2:30 NLT). I've sometimes thought that all... |

In the Bible Jesus was always miraculously healing people of their disabilities. This gives the impression that being disabled is wrong or a punishment for sin. Yep. In those dark times it doesn't seem to have occurred to them that sickness might be a case of bad luck. And their sin theory wasn't c... |

^ Hmm........I'd never heard of Metabolic Syndrome before. Is it a really bad ailment? I'm feeling a bit dippy this morning and can't quite figure out whether they're saying that drinking tea gives you MetS or protects you from it. Which is it? Tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world a... |

According to the article: While the study did not delve into the specific types of tea, it found no substantial differences in delayed aging between UK black tea drinkers and Chinese green tea enthusiasts. I suspect the country you drink the tea in has no effect on its life-ext... |

I'm no expert on that war, but to me the Guardian looks somewhat biased towards Israel. I was in Leicester, UK between May and September this year, and the nearest thing to fascist activity I noticed was one night when there was a police presence around a mosque and they'd cordoned the area off and detoured the traffic. No incident, but the cops weren't taking any chances. The media se... |

Not the best solution for the need to emotionally connect. But until I can learn to become a hermit and live with being lonely, it's all I've got. I kind of wish I could get my brain to believe the illusion that ChatGPT is human. It would be some comfort during the long spells of solitude I have to... |
